She was born in Lenoir, NC on March 30, 1928. Mrs. Dellinger was a member of the First United Methodist Church and retired Claims Adjudicator for the NC Employment Commission. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert G "Smokey" Dellinger and three siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her son Dr. Van G. Dellinger and wife Ilene of Cherryville, grand- sons Dr. Tom G. Dellinger of Cherryville and Sam R, Dellinger of Cornelius. A graveside service was held at 11 AM Monday, May 25, 2020 at Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Zack Christy officiating. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 601 N. Pink St., Cherryville, NC 28021. HOWARD GILBERT LAIL Shelby: Howard Gilbert Lail, 81, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at his home. Howard was born October 31, 1938. He always said that being born on Halloween, all children celebrated his birth- day. Howard was born and raised on the Lilly Mill Hill to his parents, Marvin "Bud" and Eve Ledford Lail. Howard was most proud of the ten years he served his country in the Marine Corp. Due to injuries he received in Vietnam, he returned home. He spent time working in tex- tiles and later years he was in law enforcement. In addi- tion to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Lail Pitchford and her husband Arvis; and brother, Roy Pinkney Lail and wife Annie, all of Shelby. Howard is survived by his wife Patricia "Pat" Hamrick Lail, of the home; and two brothers. Though Howard had no chil- dren of his own, he enjoyed step-daughter, April Lail and husband Furman Miller PHILLIP EDWARD TYLER Phillip Edward Tyler, 64, of Blacksburg, SC, passed away suddenly on May 22, 2020 at his home. He was born in Fort Worth, TX, to the late Edward Paulin and Elizabeth Jane Tyler and was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Lambert. Phillip was retired from the US Army. Survivors: Brother, Reverend Brian Taule and wife Gale, of Gastonia, NC; and sis- ter: Jeanelle of Newman, Huntsville, AR. A memorial service will be announced later by Harris Funeral Home, Inc. ZEB ROGER WRAY Zeb Roger Wray, 75, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his residence. Born in Cleveland County on January 21, 1945, he was the son of the late Clyde W. Wray and Emma C. Wray. Roger's career included Doran Mills, Coca Cola Bottling Company and North Carolina Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and he truly loved his two yorkie companions, Zoe and Shelly. He was a graduate of Burns High School at Fallston. Roger was a former member of Buffalo Baptist Church of Shelby. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Teresa Bolt Wray; son, Johnathan Wayne Wray; two daughters, Tammi Wray Beaver and Amy Wray Self; grandchildren, Casey Self, Matthew McCall- Meadows and Summer Richards; great grandchil- dren, Camden and Blayden Wease; brother, Ralph Thomas Wray (Vickie) of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Peggy W. Montgomery of Stone Mountain, GA, Mary W. Warlick of Lawndale, Judy W. Phillips (Richard) of Shelby and Brenda W. Peterson (Robert) of Kings Mountain. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00 am at Buffalo Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Mace and Rev. Max Turner officiating. Reita was a longtime mem- ber of the First Presbyterian Church, found great enjoy- ment in reading, walking and being outdoors but most of all she enjoyed her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. RHYNE MICHAEL SIMPSON Cherryville - Mr. Rhyne Michael Simpson, 29, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at his residence. Rhyne was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on April 29, 1991 a son of Dr. Gary Simpson and Jane White Simpson both of Cherryville. He was a 2010 gradu- ate of Lighthouse Christian Academy and attended UNC Chapel Hill for three years. Rhyne was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Cherryville and operated his own business, Outer Optics, which was a videography and marketing company that spe- cialized in recording music, video production, photogra- phy and marketing. Rhyne was creative, artistic, caring and loving. He loved music of any kind, loved his friends and also loved sports and was especially talented at bas- ketball and baseball. Rhyne always wanted to help some- of Fountain Inn, SC; step- son, Robbie Lail of Shelby; six grandchildren, including Megan Lail, who has always held a special place in his heart. We wish to express our love and thanks to our dear friends who held fast to us during this time of trials, especially Ronald Hurdt and Tommy and Debbie Bridges. Online Condolences: www. claybarnette.com FRED EUGENE BRACKETT Shelby - Mr. Fred Eugene Brackett, 86, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Peak Resources in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County, NC on June 16, 1933 a son of the late Johnny Baxter Brackett and Burzilla Earl Brackett. Mr. Brackett retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church. He served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was pre- ceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Turner Brackett; a sister, Ora Carter and two brothers, Robert and S.L. Brackett. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Jones (Wayne Abernathy) and a sister, Janice Glass. A graveside service was held at 11:30am at Rose Hill Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 with the Rev. CINDY SCOGGINS STONE Cindy Scoggins Stone, 60, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 21, 2020 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, NC. Born in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Bobby Norris Scoggins. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Julia Elaine Scoggins. Cindy loved her family and her dog Dusty. She especially enjoyed attending her grandson's band concerts. She enjoyed traveling to the beach, work- ing Sudoku puzzles, and loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed helping her sister with home improve- ments and she loved mak- ing jewelry. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
