He was born in Cleveland County, NC. Delvin was a longtime mem- ber of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and he attended Branch Street Chapel with his wife and children. He was employed by Cataler North America and was the owner and operator of Cool Sports and Imports for more than 20 years. Delvin loved anything involving cars, from building engines and installing stereo equipment to fabricating and modifications. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his job. Delvin was a loving hus- band and father and will be missed greatly by his family and many friends. RALPH LEE PRUITT Ralph Lee Pruitt, 78, of Dirty Ankle Road, Casar, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at his resi- dence. Born in Cleveland County, on June 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Thomas Lee Pruitt and Mamie Hoyle Beam. Mr. Pruitt was retired from Gemaire Distributors and was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Walker Pruitt; three sons, Ronnie Pruitt and wife, Tamila of Casar, Tommy Pruitt and wife, Karen of Casar and Jason Pruitt and EMMA BROOKS SCHENCK Mrs. Emma Brooks Schenck, 96, of Shelby, NC passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on January 25, 1924 to the late Beulena Gertrude Borders and Walter Lee Brooks. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina until her health declined. She faithfully served on the usher board, senior choir, and was a member of the Seniors on the Move Ministry. She was a resident of White Oak Nursing Home in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. As a young woman, Emma moved from North Carolina to New Jersey, where she lived and worked until she retired and moved back to North Carolina. Emma retired at the (early) age of eighty- nine years old and dedicated her life to serving others as a dietician at Northwood Health Care Center, and as a one- on-one caregiver to many people. Afterwards, she con- tinued to work for three years as a volunteer at the Neal Senior Center in Shelby, NC. Emma was a social butter- fly and enjoyed the company of many people. She enjoyed traveling and cruising, having parties for family and friends, bowling and exercising, gar- dening, dressing like a diva and being forever young. She was a member of the Elk's Lodge and a member of Amaranth Queen of the South Eastern Star where she served as a Doorkeeper. In addition to her par- ents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sis- ter, Dorothy Louise Borders Cloud; a brother-in-law, James Cloud, Sr.; close niece, Dolleta Howell; and a grand-daughter, Lisa Wilford. Mrs. Schenck leaves fond and loving memories to cher- ish; a daughter, Shannon Malachi of Shelby, NC; three grand-daughters, Shanna Wilford of Rodgers, AR, Meeka Wilford of Shelby, NC and Kenna Wilford of Shelby, NC; a god-son, Joshua McGill of Shelby, NC; four generations of nieces and nephews; and a host of rela- tives and many friends. Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the ser- vice for Mrs. Schenck will be private. GARY ALLEN BURGESS Blacksburg -- Gary Allen Burgess, 62, of 129 Possum Trot Road, passed away Saturday, May 16th, 2020, at his residence. Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia, he was the son of the Charles Burgess and Norma Treadway Burgess. Mr. Burgess worked as a truck driver. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burgess is survived by two sons, Brett Simmons and Joshua Causey; two daughters, Kristin Causey and fiance, Chris Brooks, Sr., and Roni Burgess; and two grandchildren, Angel Adams and Chris Brooks, Jr. He was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Baker, and his sister, Selinda Burgess. MICHAEL "MIKE" THOMAS MARTIN, II Michael "Mike" Thomas Martin, II, 45, of Jesse Mountain Road, Casar, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at his resi- dence. Born in Burke County, NC on June 20, 1974, he was the son of the late Michael Thomas Martin and Donna Lenee Beck Martin. He was employed with 20 plus years at Asplundh Tree Expert Company. Mike had a great love for music and making music with friends. Survivors include three brothers, Scott Martin and wife, Jennifer of Casar, Marty Martin and wife, Ericka of Shelby and Lee Martin and fiancee, Nicole Moretz; nieces and neph- ews, Austyn Brady and wife Ashley of Cherryville, Alyssa Martin of Collinsville, VA, Baylee Martin of Shelby, Curtis Martin of Casar and Jaxson Martin of Casar The family received friends on Friday, May 22, 2020, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stamey- Tysinger Funeral Home. KATY ANN INGRAM Katy Ann Ingram, 84, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 18, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Rhodhiss, NC, to the late Albert and Maude Bumgarner Jones and was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Jones. Katy was a past mem- ber of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and a current mem- ber of Second Baptist Church where she loved attending church functions and outings. Until her declining health, Katy was very active in her church where she held vari- ous jobs including being a Sunday School teacher. She also loved volunteering at the Patrick Senior Center for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and dur- ing her younger years was a member of a trio that sang often in many local churches. Katy enjoyed working puzzles and going to yard sales. She enjoyed exercising with her friends at the YMCA. Katy was an accomplished piano player and loved to cook large meals for her family. She was a loving person who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. MARY ETTA HAMRICK TRAMMELL Patterson Springs: Mary Etta Hamrick Trammell, 85, died Monday, May 18, 2020, at her home. A Native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Martha Parris Hamrick. She was a mem- ber of Patterson Springs Baptist Church, retired from Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, as a nurse, and later worked at K-Mart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Oscar Trammell; and four brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Hardin and husband George of Patterson Springs, and Pam Franks of Lenoir; grandchil- dren, Amy Robinson and husband Scott of Granite Falls, Aaron Franks and wife Amanda of Lenoir, Jessica Bell and husband Mike of Lenoir, Jennifer Costello and husband Billy, Kim Johnson and husband David, all of Patterson Springs; great grandchil- dren, Dakota Cunningham, Deacon Robinson, Kaleb and Grayson Franks, Wesley, Tyler, and Evie Costello, Makenzie Johnson, Michaela, Sadie, and Kalen Bell. LORETTA LEE WARE Loretta Lee Ware, 84, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 14, 2020 at Testa Hospice in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, to the late John and Bertha King Hullender. Loretta was retired from the Sadie Mill where she was known as the best winder in the mill. She loved to dance and spend time with her fam- ily. Loretta was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed dearly by her loving family. Survivors: Son, Don Thompson, of the home; daughter: Deedee Blalock, of the home; and 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. All services were private. LUCILLE PIERCE BATCHLER Blacksburg -- Lucille Pierce Batchler, 92, of 1434 North Limestone Street, passed away on Wednesday, May 20th, 2020, at Peachtree Centre. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of James Dewey Batchler and the daughter of the late L.D. Pierce and Emma Whiten Pierce. Mrs. Batchler was the former Voter Registration Chairperson and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Mrs. Batchler is survived by one son, Craig Batchler; one daughter, Barbara B. Haggard; two grandsons, Robbie Haggard and wife, Michelle, and Dalton Batchler and wife, Haley; three great- grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, and Dane Batchler. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Howard, Harold, and Marvin Pierce and Margaret McDaniel.
