Born in Cleveland County, on August 13, 1936, he was a son of the late Rev. C.O. Greene and Eliza Brooks Greene. Mr. Green would complete a Bachelors Degree from Wake Forest University and obtain his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. He was retired from the The Developmental Evaluation Center of Cleveland County where he served as the director. He was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church and former assistant Sunday school teacher for the James Scism Class. Mr. Greene's father passed along to him a great love for woodworking. He was an accomplished craftsman known for his furniture and especially for his clocks. He enjoyed building clocks of all sizes and repairing their movements. He also loved golf and was a lifelong player. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Greene. His is survived by his loving wife of almost sixty- two years, Peggy Padgett Greene, daughter, Susan Greene of Shelby; brother, Albert Greene of Winston Salem; his canine compan- ion, Daisy and his three grandcats. Mr. Greene was a caring friend, loving husband and father and will be truly be missed by all who knew him. A graveside service was held on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at 3:00 pm at Double Shoals Baptist Church with the Dr. Brian Johnson offi- ciating. JUDITH FAYE BANNING LEWIS Judith Faye Banning Lewis, age 77 of Shelby, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Atrium Health in Shelby. She is survived by her children, Jack Lewis of Cherryville, NC, and Melony Lewis of Shelby, NC, a daughter-in-law, Pam Lewis, five grandchildren, Marty Murray Jr., Randy Murray, Bradley Murray, Ashley Lewis, and Haley Lewis, ten great grandchildren, Baylee Murray, Blake Murray, Landon Murray, Hunter Murray, Desiray Murray, Hayden Lewis, Brayden Lewis, Camden Gordon, Brylee Hopple, and Korbin Yount, a sister, Betty Louise Holland, and a brother, Wilbur Banning, and numer- ous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born July 25, 1942 in Cleveland County, Judy was the daughter of the late Clyde and Ester Morrow Banning and was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Twitty Lewis, and a son, Bobby Lewis. Judy worked and retired from the textile industry. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Peach Street Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family. A private service was held Tuesday at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Burial followed at Cleveland Memorial Park. VERGIE ANNETTE "ANGEL ANN" PERINS HENKLE Vergie Annette "Angel Ann" Perkins Henkle, age 84, of 208 South Depot Street, departed to be with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, May 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard "Howie" Melvin Henkle. Survivors include her son, Richard M. Henkle, of Greensboro, two grandsons: Mark Henkle and Andrew Henkle both of Charlotte, sister, Mary Lou Troxler (Rockie); brother, Eugene Perkins (Maxine). JAMES EVERETT PARKER Mr. James Everett Parker, 78, of 421 Kildare Drive Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born on February 8, 1942 in Cleveland County, NC to the late James Bruce Parker and Francis Hosch Parker Grier. James dedicated his life to Christ as a young boy at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. After graduating from Green Bethel High School in 1961, he continued his pur- suit of the Lord at Light Oak Baptist Church and Faith Missionary Baptist Church before finding his home at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He was a quiet, humble man and maintained his faith in the Lord throughout the years. James worked as a Supervisor and certified Loom Fixer in the Textile industry. He was a friend, a confidant, a fixer¬- a sim- ple man that loved his wife, children, grandchildren, fam- ily and friends. James was known to many as "Heavy" or simply "Parker". James played a pivotable roll in the growth and life of his grandchildren. He opened his house every summer to all 9 of his grandchildren. He provided everything they needed to consider it sum- mer camp. He loved fishing and hunting in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Reid and Vera Parker. James is survived by his lov- ing wife of 57 years Annie R. CAROLYN CLAYTON Carolyn Clayton, age 77, of Chase High Road, Forest City, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Carolyn was born January 7, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Lewis Clayton and Sarah Walker Clayton. Carolyn's work career includ- ed DEB Manufacturing, the Rutherford County Clerk of Courts office, as an Accounts Payable Clerk for the Department of Corrections and a part-time instructor at Isothermal Community College. She was a mem- ber of Providence United Methodist Church and an avid reader. Carolyn enjoyed her leisure time during her retirement years and espe- cially loved family gatherings. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Brayden Magana. Those left to cherish her memory include one son, James Holland (Christy) of Rockwell, NC and a daugh- ter, Kathy Maness (Vick) of Forest City; two brothers, James Clayton of Forest City and Ditney Clayton (Dianne) of Sandy Mush and a spe- cial friend, Wendy Fowler of Mooresboro. She is also sur- vived by five grandchildren, Steven Holland (Lindsay), Alisha Smith (Darren), Kyle Lancaster, Amber Carenno (Walmore), Kimberly Holland and fifteen great-grandchil- dren. TROY MICHAEL SELLERS Troy Michael Sellers, age 79 of Foster Rd. passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 12, 1941 in Gaston County to the late Ben Ray Sellers Sr. and Mamie Gertrude Stroupe Sellers. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he formerly served as a deacon, an Elder, and an Elder Emeritus. Troy was a 1961 Graduate of Tryon High School and retired after 32 years of service at Carolina Freight as a dock worker. He was a member of the Teemster Local 61, Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 AF & AM, and Scottish Rite Bodies of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina "Michele" Sellers; brother, Bobby Sellers; and sister, Alice Queen. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Ford Sellers; son, Greg Sellers and wife, Leslie; siblings, Roy Sellers, B.R. Sellers, Harold Dean Sellers and wife, Doris, and Sadie Lundberg; grandchil- dren, Katelyn S. Whitworth and husband, Anthony, Dixon Wyte, Molly Cathryn Sellers, Madison Parker, and Cayson Sellers; and great grandchild, Carson Whitworth. JACKIE DEAN PETERSON Jackie Dean Peterson, 69, of Shelby, NC, passed away on May 16, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC. Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jack Edward Peterson and Helen Pearl Greene. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Heather Peterson, sisters Linda McDaniel and Ann Peterson and brother Ricky Peterson. Jackie loved his community and volun- teered for many years with the Bessemer City Booster Club. He was a die hard Duke fan and was retired from the textile industry. He attend- ed First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City. He was a loving father, grandfa- ther brother and friend. Survivors: 1 son: Rusty Peterson, (Aimee) Cherryville, NC; 1 daugh- ter: Felicia Gibson (Daniel), Kings Mountain, NC; Brothers: Johnny Peterson, Kenny Peterson and Johnny Johnston; Sisters: Jean Peterson and Joyce Greene; Grandchildren: Kylie Gibson and Holdyn Gibson.
