ListentoLife.org LISTEN TO LIFE by Dr. Joey Faucette Kudzu is taking over the southern United States. It was introduced as a ground cover, to control for erosion, some years ago. Now the stuff's taking over fi elds and railroad tracks and anything else it can get itself into. I heard about a guy recently whose lost most of his four- acre lot to kudzu. So he decided to attack it. He unleashed his weedeater on it. He sprayed it with herbicide. He even burned it but the kudzu still grew. You see, kudzu can grow up to three feet in twenty-four hours, underground. It sends out shoots underground to escape the weedeater, herbicide, and fi re, and then sticks up a shoot three feet away to see how life is there. If all is good, a leaf goes out and away it grows again. Kudzu sounds like a bad habit to me. Give it a little space in your life and pretty soon it's taking over, escaping all our desperate attempts to get rid of it. So be careful what you plant in your life as you Live Positive and make a life worth living. Depending on the Covid-19 situation, the sessions may be held in person at the Le- Grand Center in Shelby or on- line using the ZOOM platform. "We want to continue giving all businesses and organizations in Cleveland County opportuni- ties to improve their potential for success," said Steve Padgett, Director. The summer schedule in- cludes: • June 4 – Non-Profit vs For- Profit: Regulatory Differences • June 11 – Facebook Paid Ads for Business Owners • June 18 – How to Write a Business Plan • June 25 – Basics of Book- keeping • July 16 – How to Start a Business—Identifying the ABCs • July 23 – Insurance...Busi- ness Risk Management We have scheduled a spe- cial seminar on June 11 and encourage all business owners to attend. Small business own- ers need to learn the real power of Facebook ads as it has over 1.49 billion monthly users. With less than 3% of your custom- ers seeing your post on Face- book today, it is more useful to view Facebook as a powerful paid advertising platform than a free social media site. With Facebook ads you can display your best content in front of key customers that have clearly self- identified themselves as good customers by their interest on Facebook. You can get started with Facebook ads with as little as a few dollars per ad. You may register for any of these seminars online at www. clevelandcc.edu. For more in- formation or for assistance with registration, contact Steve Padgett: Phone 704-669-4146 or email padgetts@clevelandcc. edu. Small Business Seminars SUMMER SERIES
