To all who pray, continue to pray your prayer each day at noon. We received a letter this week. It reads, "Barb, thanks for writing your col- umn every week. It keeps me informed on my family. You do a great job. Keep up the good work. Thank you, Don." Don is my cousin from Borden, Ind. I will try to keep you informed, Don, on family life in the area. Hi to everyone in your neck of the woods and we all hope to see each other at our family reunions. Winslow Patoka River has risen quite a bit in just a week of rain. The most rain we got cam in Sunday, May 17, with over two inches of rain with thunder and lightning strikes. There were several days all week that rain came in the Tri-state, but Winslow either got sprinkles or none at all. Like our road trip on Saturday, May 16, when we drove to Newburgh to pick up Laura and all along the way, you could see big pud- dles of water in every field. The more south we trav- eled, the more puddles we saw. The flowers were beau- tiful in all the yards of peo- nies, rhododendrons, tulips, flags, flowering trees, ferns and cotton floating through the air from the cottonwood tree. Then in Lynnville, at a church, there were three vendor trucks and a table set up with items. I smelled the food cook and saw lots of children with their parents. It looked like a great hap- pening on a sunshiny day. We also took a longer trip up to Washington for Lau- ra to pick up her car. That travel was enjoyable also. The White River at that time was down, but now since the rains came, it overflowed its banks by the Memorial Day weekend. Our temps have been ranging from the 70s to the 60s, and the windows closed again. Temps surged to the 80s for Memorial Day week- end and into this week. You never know how to dress in these days, because it may be short sleeves one day and a jacket the next. Soon, it will be hot and we will have the air conditioner on and not the heater. Summer starts officially on June 20 and that isn't too far away. Pike County has a total of five cases of coronavi- rus, but Dubois County has more than 161, with most of those cases being in Hunt- ingburg at a meat packing plant. Gibson County has 10 cases, so the virus is still around. With more peo- ple going back to work and more people going out and about, we all must still try to keep safe in all the ways possible, and that may be to still stay home. Laura said she went to church Sunday morning and you could sit in every other row. In each of those rows, there was dis- tancing, but the service was to praise God. At the beginning of last week, there was a parade of firemen and policemen put together by Deputy Mike McGregor to honor and spread cheer to Steve English for his 33 years of service to our community. He is at Golden Living and we all appreciate the years he kept Winslow and Pike County safe. Norm and I were over at the Poehlein's to buy an Av- alanche from Lisa and after Tuesday, we hope to soon get it on the road and have a truck I and other peo- ple, like Mom, can get into easy without having to use a stool. While we were there, we got to see Lincoln, who was holding little miss Oak- lee, who has the cutest smile and I heard a faint laugh. She is also cutting her sec- ond tooth. On Mother's Day, Lisa got an oak tree that her and Oaklee can watch grow tall each year. Since the weekend was Memorial Day, I hope you did honor your loved ones by going to the cemetery where your local VFW color guard held a small service of hon- or for the fallen, as they gave their lives to keep us free. As the lights begin to dim on this week, keep an eye on family and friends. Slow down and see what won- ders are all around your ar- ea. I heard the lightning bugs were seen. Congrats to all our seniors who have or will graduate high school and to all the students who are now in another grade when school starts again. As always, smile, wave and say "hi" to everyone you see this week and stay safe. REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS Robert E. Mason Estate and Robyn K. Evans PR con- vey to Robyn K. Evans, Donald E.
