They pick on words by singling them out and make such a pro- duction of them that sever- al broadcasts have meat to listen to. For heaven's sake let us hear some good news for a change. I heard a story once and it could be just a story, but there was a news agency that only put out good news and people stopped listening because they wanted to hear the dirty mudslinging we have became so good at. We have the power to change the channel with your re- mote in hand so turn it off. There is another prob- lem and it deals with ex- pertise. There seems to be many experts expressing their opinions. It seems like if you keep listening soon- er or later someone will say something you want to hear. Our President has his hands full making good decisions with the weight of the USA on his shoul- ders and his mind coupled with all the advice he re- ceives from all the experts. Where and when he makes a decision there are always people second guessing and arm chair quarterback- ing his decisions. This has made me change my way of thinking because dem- ocrat or republican there has been little if any work- ing together and most of us have lost respect for some our elected officials. I have never considered myself a political minded individual but I do know now, that if I had the opportunity to help some of them out of office it would be bye bye. Sorry for taking up so much of my column with my opinions concerning our country and the bad news so I'll inject some of my more enjoyable time last week. It almost always has something to do with my grandkids. This order we are under has given me lots of time to play and be with them. Hey, I'm almost 72 years old and my grand- children came late in life so I have lots to live for. They change from day to day but each day with them is an adventure. Wy- att is almost five years old and he needs a little seat of the pants help from time to time. He is learning how to build things in the shop and he watches papa using power tools. I hope papa is using them correctly but he is learning to be careful even though sometimes things happen. Willow likes papa to play with her or sometimes to just sit on papa's lap and make faces at one another. They are fun and I am sure going to enjoy them as long as possible. Well before the rain started today my wife and I were making progress on the things we set out to ac- complish. We did get the tree down and sawed up af- ter it had fell and stuck in another tree during one of our past storms. I was able to make a couple of cuts on the base and then wrap a rope around it to pull it out with our truck. It wasn't all that big but it made a huge mess to clean up and no grandkids here to help. We are in the progress of plant- ing flowers to place on the stumps left by the trees we laid down on the hill side. I think it will make things look better. Well if we were having church tomorrow I would probably preach on listen- ing to those who God has placed over you. I real- ly think it is time for us to make sure they have been placed over us and if they are working for God. The only way I know how to be sure is pray for God's guide and lead and then proceed with His assistance. God has shown many of us that we were way too full of the world and we needed to slow down and enjoy life not try to cram two days into one. Don't ever forget to do your best to love one anoth- er and seek blessings for all especially when the on- ly blessing they might see in this day of trouble and confusion is your blessing. So get out there and do it. And now Andrea it is time for me to stop Ram- bling and get this to the editor. If having a soul means being able to feel love, loy- alty and gratitude, then an- imals are better off than a lot of humans. This week, PAWS is fea- turing a handsome young fellow named Buck, who is a Husky mix. He has strik- ing blue eyes and gorgeous white fur. He is a very pow- erful dog and will need a good pack leader to train and socialize him. Huskies need abundant space and a house with a fenced yard is preferred. And we can almost hear them protest- ing, like kids bemoaning a favorite coach's retirement or church members griev- ing a beloved pastor's call to serve elsewhere: "Oh, great. Someone new for us to get to know. It won't be the same. It won't be you." Except … the word an- other has two forms in Greek: "another just like this one" and "another, dif- ferent version." And when the author of John trans- lated Jesus' Aramaic into Greek, the first definition was the accurate one. She's fail- ing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away. Meanwhile, her moth- er is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack. The daughter says, "Absolute- ly, Mom, I love your cake." "Here, have some cook- ing oil," her mother offers. "Yuck" says her daughter. "How about a couple raw eggs? " "Gross, Mom." "Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda? " "Mom, those are all yucky." To which the mother replies, "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves, but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake." God works the same way. Many times, we won- der why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times, but God knows that when He puts these things all in His or- der, they always work for good. We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful. Hope your day is a "piece of cake."
