She normally has at least three clutches at the be- ginning of the spring season and usually fi nds three to four eggs at a time. This year she found six eggs, which is a record for a single nest. Legend says the blue bird is known as a sign of joy and happiness. (Photo provided) The Governor's Ex- ecutive Order No.118 has waived the work search re- quirement for all individu- als currently filing a claim for unemployment insur- ance benefits, but as a part of the claim process you must complete your weekly certification(s). Completion of your weekly certification(s) is what initiates your ben- efit payment. If you do not complete your weekly certification, you WILL NOT receive payment. If you have not already done so, you MUST complete a weekly certification. Filing your weekly cer- tification on our website https://des.nc.gov is the quickest and most efficient method. If you do not have access to a computer, you may file by telephone at 1.888.372.3453. In accordance with the Governor's Executive order, please answer the weekly certification ques- tion "Did you look for work?" in the affirmative 'yes'. Weekly certifications are required to be filed within 14 days for each week you wish to claim benefits. Fil- ing a weekly certification does not guarantee eligibil- ity for benefits. Unemployment Insurance Claim reminder By Judy Ford, Master Gardener Everyone enjoys a good snack, so have fun growing your own!! Fill your garden with edible crops that can be harvested, washed and enjoyed straight from the garden with very little to no preparation. Find a location that re- ceives at least six hours of sunlight per day. Your loca- tion can be an area in your yard, or a few containers placed near a water source. As with young garden- ers, select snackable veg- gies you would like to grow and eat. Snack plants can be purchased from your local garden center. Look for varieties of lettuce, kale, spinach, cumbers or cherry tomatoes. With potting soil mix in hand, let the planting time begin by following each plant's directions. Water, weed, repeat for a few weeks as you enjoy watching your snacks grow! Soon it will be time to har- vest your snacks - - - fresh from the garden. Plant a snack garden
