www.negociosnow.com March 2020 35 Age: 31 Title: Owner Name of Organization: Salon La Rouge Diamaris "Lulu" Quiles star- ted her first salon job at the age of 15 when she washed hair, swept floors and answered phones and scheduled appointments. Seve- ral years later she left for college and worked at other jobs but never felt satisfied. At the age of 20 she realized that nothing else would fulfill her the way the hair industry did, and decided to pursue her dream by enrolling in Tricoci University and com- pleting a 10-month, 1,500-hour program to become a cosmeto- logist. After several years of growing a clientele and working for other salons, she and her sisters joined up and became partners of their own salon. After five years she decided to branch out on her own and moved from Bucktown to Belmont Cragin where she has been the sole owner of her salon for the last three years. She is certified to do keratin treatments, is a certified colorist and is certified in invisitab ex- tensions. To engage and assist her community she has joined park advisory councils as well as local school councils and serves as a block leader. She earned the community of the year award through NWSHC and most re- cently posted on the LISC web- site as Latina entrepreneur for Hispanic heritage month. Diamaris Quiles The Salon Queen "T he beauty of my craft is that I get to meet incredible people and make them feel fabulous while they share stories of sadness, inspiration, goals, and sometimes failure but the future belongs to those who believe in the BEAUTY of their dreams."
