Over the last few weeks an unimaginable scenario has developed where schools, bars and restaurants, stores, universities, public gatherings and events have been canceled. Even offices have either been completely shuttered or services have been highly curtailed in wise attempts to slow the virus. Given everything we were hearing from health experts around the world, we had no choice but to postpone this year's Latinos 40 Under 40 event. While we are disappointed that we will not be gathering to celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of our group, we could not risk putting anyone at risk. The coronavirus, however, has not made a dent in the enthusiasm that our team continues to have to proceed with all our editorial projects, including the edition that we are presenting today. This latest project, in its 5th year, is the culmination of a six-month search process to spotlight the best and brightest of our young Latino leaders. We couldn't be prouder to reach this 5th anniversary milestone with this group who includes entrepreneurs, elected and appointed officials, surgeons, engineers, corporate executives, bankers, dreamers, tech leaders, nonprofit agency leaders, and educators, just to name a few. These are the people whose creativity, tenacity and spirit will help us survive this crisis. This edition collects their stories. Eventually, the coronavirus will be history and when that happens Negocios Now will celebrate Latinos 40 Under 40 with you, a group that supports our initiative to recognize our young leaders. Until then, please take care of yourselves and wash your hands frequently. We hope to see you soon at Latinicity. T odo estaba listo para celebrar en grande el 5to aniversario de La- tinos 40 Under 40 cuando el mortífero fantasma del coro- navirus irrumpió sin piedad en nuestras vidas forzándo- nos a una cuarentena impre- visible. En un escenario inimag- inable semanas atrás, es- cuelas bares, restaurantes, universidades y otros centros públicos han sido cerrados y cancelados, o pospuestos cientos de eventos en una sabia medida para frenar el avance de la epidemia. Y por supuesto, la cele- bración de Latinos 40 Under 40 fue pospuesta tan pronto supimos que los asistentes al evento podrían estar el riesgo de contagiarse con el agresivo brote. El coronavirus, sin em- bargo, no ha hecho mella en el entusiasmo de nuestro equipo que sigue avanzando en todos nuestros proyectos editoriales, como lo es esta edición digital que presenta- mos hoy y que es el colofón de un proceso de seis meses de trabajo. No podríamos estar más orgulloso de llegar a este 5to aniversario con otro grupo de talentosos jóvenes, entre los que se encuentran empresa- rios, oficiales electos, médicos cirujanos, ingenieros, ejecuti- vos de empresas y de corpora- tivos, banqueros, "dreamers", jóvenes en tecnología, agen- cias sin fines de lucro y edu- cadores, por solo mencionar algunos. Esta edición recoge histo- rias forjadas con sacrificio, perseverancia y talento. Tar- de o temprano, el coronavi- rus será historia y Negocios Now celebrará a los Latinos 40 Under 40 junto a la comu- nidad que aplaude nuestra iniciativa de reconocer a sus jóvenes líderes.
