They are Cub Scouts, learning such skills as how to drive a nail, pitch a tent, march and how to properly salute our fl ag. For fi ve days the Piedmont Council Boy Scouts conducted the Cub Scout Sum- mer Camp. The event was not only fun but very educational. This past Saturday, Shelby High School’s Malcom Brown Auditorium was packed with an overfl ow crowd of parents and other family members. It was dance time again as Step-N-Out Dance Productions held their annual recital, and no one was disappointed. There were not only show stoppers, but show scene stealers! In the end, the audience was up out of their seats for a stand- ing ovation. Pictured here are the “Teenys” performing their presentation called “Puppies Mix”. Tim Poteat, left, and Floyd Williams present a check for $4,500 to students and Sharon Gensch, North Shelby principal. The funds will be used for the Hearts and Hooves theraputic riding program and to purchase technology. The purpose was to raise funds for Pennington Elementary School ,located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, where eighty-seven students had their homes destroyed by historic fl ood waters in May. Over $1100 was raised. Jefferson fi rst grade teacher, Mrs. Jenkins, drove to Tennessee to personally pres- ent the school with the proceeds.
