Western Open Fiddle Championships Some of the finest fiddlers of all ages and backgrounds gather at the Western Open Fiddle Championships in Red Bluff in mid-October. The fiddles have been gathering in Red Bluff for more than a quarter century and the competition is fierce, but friendly. After watching the fiddling competition, there is a country dance. And some of the best fiddling can be caught late in the evening as fiddlers jam with each other around their campsites. Winners from Red Bluff go on to compete at the national contest in Weiser, Idaho. The fun starts days before the competition, as fiddlers spontaneously meet at sponsoring businesses all over town to show off their musical talent.
