By Catherine Jozwik Special to Waukesha County Home Dark-colored exteriors, natural materials, and vintage-inspired furniture and accents are just a few new home décor trends 2020 has ushered in. Suzan Wemlinger, principal designer at Suzan J. Designs in Milwaukee, said retro styles such as midcentury modern are partic- ularly popular today. "The mini- malist look is waning, and this mixing of eras and styles will replace it," Wemlinger said. Some homeowners are going with a bold approach by incorpo- rating bright colors in their homes, such as painting kitchen cabinets royal blue, and even adding eye-catching wallpaper to living spaces. "Wallpapers in these types of colors and patterns are making a comeback, and not just in small powder rooms," Wemlinger added. "Using these vivid wall coverings in living and dining spaces, as well as entry- ways, means people really do love color and aren't afraid to use it." However, more subdued earth tones, such as terra cotta and brown, may also be back in fashion.
