December 21 - 27, 2019—3 The Greeneville Sun, Greeneville, TN The Greeneville Sun, Greeneville, TN December 21 - 27, 2019 — 3 2 x 3.5" ad a) greene cnty farmers b) swango's 2 x 4" ad williams electric 2 x 1.5" ad ymca 2 x 1.5" ad doughty stevens By Michelle Wilson With just a few days left until the "big day," the scheduling elves are hard at work, making sure viewers get their fill of all the holly, jolly pro- gramming TV has to offer. As the on-screen Santas are eager to deliver these programming pack- ages, we took a sneak peek at who's been naughty and nice this holiday season. Nice — Food Network: There's sugar, spice and everything nice as the candied cable net bakes up the season finale of "Holiday Ginger- bread Showdown" on Sunday, Dec. 22, followed by the season finales of "Holiday Baking Championship" and "Christmas Cookie Challenge" on Monday, Dec. 23. Here's hoping Eddie Jackson left a cold glass of milk for the big guy. Nice — CBS: The network of- fers up its annual tradition of spotlighting inspirational stories of lives changed through adoption in Sunday's telecast of "A Home for the Holidays With Idina Menzel." Kids and Christmas go together like Rudolph and his nose-so-bright. Speaking of bright lights, "Come on down!," as the "The Price Is Right" unwraps two nights of holiday- themed specials featuring the cast of "SEAL Team" and Seth Rogen, air - ing Sunday and Monday. Naughty — Frank Shirley, "Na- tional Lampoon's Christmas Vaca- tion": Because, what other list would you be on by being a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low- life, snake-licking, dirt-eating ... well, you get the drift. Though it's been airing throughout the month on AMC, the season wouldn't be com - plete without the film's Christmas Eve showing on Tuesday, Dec. 24. No Tylenol needed. Naughty — Higbee's depart- ment store Santa in "A Christmas Story": Poor Ralphie shouldn't have been criticized by Santa for his gift request. Sure, Ralphie may take a ricochet BB to the glasses, but the "icicles on the garage" take the rap. TBS and TNT offer their 24-hour marathon. Nice — NBC: The Peacock Network offers up it's traditional showing of "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve (Tuesday) as well as "Christmas Eve Mass" later in the evening. Naughty — The Grinch, "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas": OK, though it's airing Wednesday, Dec. 25, on NBC, and he turns good in the end, it's still a steep uphill climb from being a three-decker sauerkraut and toad - stool sandwich with arsenic sauce! Nice — ABC: Happiness is a warm puppy as Sunday brings "I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown"; "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" arrives Tuesday; "Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Pa - rade" marches out Wednesday. Naughty — "Twisted Sister: A Twisted Christmas Live": Sorry. The sweet sounds of the holidays shouldn't be "twisted" through heavy metal. This airs Tuesday on AXS TV. Naughty — "Bad Santa" (2003): Need we say more? MTV offers up this Billy Bob Thornton-starring comedy Tuesday. We're sure there will be coal found in that stocking. Celebrity Scoop Celebrity Scoop Naughty or nice? Santa's made a list and checked it twice Cover Story Cover Story By Jay Bobbin Jimmy Hawkins has nothing but wonder- ful memories of making "It's a Wonderful Life." The actor-producer was four years old when he played Tommy Bailey, one of the children of James Stew- art and Donna Reed's George and Mary, in director Frank Capra's 1946 holiday classic. NBC gives the movie its traditional Christmas Eve telecast Tuesday, Dec. 24 — and the film is available in the 4K Ultra HD Blu- ray format from Paramount Home Entertainment for the first time. "I remember doing that scene walking from the living room to the kitchen saying, 'Excuse me, excuse me,' " Hawkins reflects. "Frank Capra would squat down so we were face-to-face and say, 'When you get to this point right here, keep pulling on this man's coattail.' He was very patient with me. There were other movies I did that I don't remember as vividly as 'It's a Wonderful Life.' " Hawkins also has warm memories of Stewart and Reed on the set ... and he would experience that again Checking in with Jimmy Hawkins with one of them, since he went on to play the boyfriend of daughter Mary (Shelley Fabares, with whom he also made two Elvis Presley films) on the sitcom "The Donna Reed Show." With the "It's a Wonderful Life" release on 4K, for which it took more than a year to restore the film, Hawkins notes his appreciation of "all those little extras" that home- video editions can include — such as wrap-party footage on the latest "Wonderful Life" version. "You see how far films have come," he says of the technical advancements. "You almost feel like you can step into them, with what they've done with them. It's just incredible." Birthdate: Nov. 13, 1941 Birthplace and current resi- dence: Los Angeles Marital status: Single (Many sources cite him as being married to Lara Parker of "Dark Shadows" fame, but he isn't) Television credits include: "Kolchak: The Night Stalk- er," "Petticoat Junction," "Gidget," "The Donna Reed Show," "Mr. Novak," "12 O'Clock High," "The Adven- tures of Ozzie and Harriet," "The Fugitive," "My Three Sons," "Ichabod and Me," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "Margie," "Dennis the Men- ace," "Leave It to Beaver," "Westinghouse Playhouse," "Bachelor Father," "Shirley Temple's Storybook," "An- nie Oakley," "Death Valley Days," "The Red Skelton Hour," "The Ruggles" Other movie credits include: "Spinout," "Girl Happy," "Mister Scoutmaster," "Sav- age Frontier" (plus many other movies in which he wasn't credited on-screen, such as "The Greatest Show on Earth," "Jim Thorpe — All-American" and "Win- chester '73") ❅ ❉ ❆ ❄ ❅ ❉ ❆ ❄ ❅ ❉ ❆ ❄ Portable And Wall Heaters Available in both 110 and 240 volt "Serving Your Complete Lighting Needs Since 1960" 3195 East Andrew Johnson Hwy. • (423)638-2241 Williams Electric Supply ❅ ❉ ❆ ❄ 240v Portable Heaters Portable, Fan-Forced 4,000 Watt Portable Heaters Williams Electric Supply Be - Ready - for COLD - Weather HEATER SALE!
