Last month, theburg received some very
exciting news.
theatre harrisburg announced that we would
receive the 2020 Award for Distinguished
service to the Arts, one of two honorees at
next year's ceremony (congratulations to
fellow recipient Jeff woodruff!).
As such, we will join a distinguished group of
people and organizations that have received
the "Arts Award" since its inception three
decades ago.
we are humbled to be in the same company as
Anne and Donald Alsedek, marcia Dale weary,
clark and melissa nicholson, the harrisburg
symphony, market square concerts and other
individuals and groups that have advanced the
cause of the arts in central PA.
According to theatre harrisburg, the
selection committee chose us for several
reasons, including our coverage of the arts, our
support of artists and our involvement with
such cultural touchstones as 3rd in the burg
and the harrisburg mural Festival.
but, heck, we're not about to stop now!
this month, we're happy to announce a call
for artists as we move ahead into our 12th year
of publishing.
In an effort to expand our creative network,
we are inviting local illustrators, painters,
photographers and 3-D artists to submit to
be featured in our "Artist in Focus," a space
dedicated to showcasing the brilliant and
diverse creatives in our community.
Additionally, we would love to connect with
emerging artists for commissioned cover art,
as well as collaborate with illustrators for paid
spot illustrations inside our magazine.

PDF with images of your work, along with
a short bio. Artwork must be submitted to
art@theburgnews.com by Jan. 31. we look
forward to seeing and celebrating your work!
otherwise, we hope you enjoy the artwork,

our December issue. the holidays provide
connective tissue for much of our content,
as we wish all of our readers, advertisers and
