Schofield and before I make my confession, I am going to tell you my story. I was playing college tennis at Florida Atlantic University down in Boca Raton, Fl. (Living a Mile from the beach!!!) I was living my dream playing a college sport and having a successful Freshman Year. I was winning most of my matches and doing well in class. Everything was great. Then, towards the end of the regular season, we were playing a match at the University Of Central Florida in Orlando and during my singles match my life changed forever. I went back to hit an overhead and my back lit up with pain. I continued to play and ended up losing the match. After the match my back continued to get tighter and tighter. The pain continued to get worse as well. I, like most people, thought the pain would go away. Eventually the pain was so bad I could no longer play. I went to my trainer. We did ice, heat, electric stimulation, ultra sound and massage, but nothing worked. I could not sleep at night. I could not sit in class comfortably. I was miserable all the time. This experience taught me one of the greatest lessons of my life. If you don't have your health and feel good, nothing else matters. Finally the semester ended and I went home. My dad, a chiropractor, evaluated my back, adjusted a few bones and I finally had some relief. I always thought I would be a chiropractor and that experience made me extremely passionate about helping people. Fast forward 8 years, I opened a chiropractic office in West Bend with my wife, Dr Korie, and I had found if I got a standard chiropractic adjustment every 2-4 weeks my back was ok but it was never fully fixed. Then about 6 months after opening my practice the pain quit going away. I was getting adjusted 2-3 times a week and I was still having pain. I saw the same experience with my patients. After a standard adjustment they would feel good for a day or two, but then they would need to get adjusted again. This is when I realized I was wrong. I thought if you got the spine moving and released tension it would find it's proper alignment but that was not happening. Many of my patients' x-rays were not improving, their posture was not changing and most importantly their problems, many times, were never completely going away.
