Knox Executive Director, Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) Former UNC Baseball Player Takes a Stand Against Cancer Former University of North Carolina baseball player, and cancer-survivor, Chase Jones is proud to announce the formation of a new charity to fund pediatric cancer research. The new charity, the Vs. Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization Chase Jones the lives dedicated to saving of children by funding international cancer research projects and supporting local children's hospitals. The Vs. Cancer Foundation encourages athletes and communities to participate in meaningful head-shaving events and other fundraising opportunities to raise money and increase cancer awareness. Half of all proceeds donated at each local event will be given to local pediatric oncology programs while the remaining half will fund cutting edge cancer research projects. Jones had the idea in 2012 and partnered with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, raising over $400,000 for child- hood cancer research in its first year. Chase quickly realized he wanted to launch his own initiative and the Vs. Cancer Foundation was created. "Cancer is personal for me. Having battled this disease I have seen first-hand the impact it can have on families, especially children," said Jones. "By funding research and supporting local children's hospitals, we can make a difference that can increase survival rates and save kids' lives." If you, your team or organization are interested in holding an event of your own, please contact The Vs. Cancer Foundation by calling (336) 209-2187, or send an email to info@vscancer.org.
