Entertainment Now | October 19 - 25, 2019 Sunday morning | 7 By Michelle Rose TV Media HBO's 'Gilded Age': The '80s are coming back in a big way to HBO. That is, the 1880s. HBO has tapped Emmy win- ners Christine Baranski ("The Good Fight") and Cynthia Nixon ("Sex and the City"), along with Amanda Peet ("Togetherness") and Morgan Spector ("Home- land"), to star in its upcoming period drama, "The Gilded Age." What's interesting about this bit of casting news is that Ba- ranski will be the lead in two high-profile series likely airing at the same time. Luckily, that doesn't mean all work and no play (and no sleep) for Baranski; per Deadline, production sched- ules were reportedly worked out to ensure her availability for both productions. The fact that it is created, written and executive produced by "Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes probably made it easy to attract big names in the first round of casting. And like "Downton Abbey," "The Gilded Age" is also centered on class relations. But this time, the story is set in America during a period marked by great excess and glaring inequality, as rail- road tycoons amassed incredi- ble wealth and power (there's a reason they were known as rob- ber barons). Back to the story. It begins in 1882, when the orphaned daughter of a southern general is sent to live with her aunts (Baranski and Nixon) in New York City. Accompanied by a woman who masquerades as her maid, the young Marian Brook gets caught up in the lives of the wealthy set — including a ruthless railroad tycoon (Spec- tor) and his ambitious wife (Peet), who struggle to be ac- cepted in the same social circle as the Vanderbilts and Astors. "The Gilded Age" is a co-pro- duction between HBO and Uni- versal TV and, surprisingly, it's been in the works since 2012. It got a series order from NBC just last year but moved to HBO in May, with a firm commitment for a 10-episode run. New 'Mr. Ripley': You might know him as "Hot Priest" right now, but "Fleabag" star An- drew Scott will soon play a char- acter with an actual name, and a famous one at that: Tom Rip- ley. The new Showtime series "Ripley" will be based on Patri- cia Highsmith's five novels, 10/20 7 AM 7:30 8 AM 8:30 9 AM 9:30 10 AM 10:30 11 AM 11:30 12 PM 12:30 S1 S2 WTTV 4 FullCourtPress (N) In Focus Colts 360 Gametime CBS Sunday Morning With Jane Pauley (N) Face the Nation Colts Blue Zone The NFL Today (L) 4 4 WRTV 6 In Touch With Dr. Charles Stanley Good Morning America Sunday This Week Joel Osteen In Touch With Dr. Charles Stanley Carpenter Realtors Nashville (N) More Than Music 6 6 @ WPTA Good Morning America Sunday ABC21 News This Week Ric Runestad Home Connection Indiana Business Retire Purpose Impractical Jokers Gametime (N) WISH 7 News 8 Daybreak at 7 a.m. (N) News 8 Daybreak at 8 a.m. (N) News 8 Daybreak at 9 a.m. (N) Inside Indiana Business VeryVera Kick-Off Sporting Dog Silver Kings 8 8 H WLFI 8 Paid Program Paid Program In Touch With Dr. Charles Stanley CBS Sunday Morning With Jane Pauley (N) Face the Nation Paid Program The NFL Today (L) D WTHR 12 Eyewitness News Weekend Sunrise (N) Sunday Today (N) Eyewitness News Weekend Sunrise (N) Meet the Press (N) Retirement Paid Program ISU Figure Skating Skate America 13 13 O WFYI 20 Dinosaur Train Cyberchase WordGirl Arthur Growing Bolder Joy of Painting Sewing Nancy Second Opinion Greener World America Heart.
