Doors of Perception...Windows of Opportunity i know, I know, in some ways these Sentinel Feature Ads always sound too good to be true. Just another Agent spinning another sales pitch. Pushing the envelope of credibility or incredulity. Trying to make something into something else that it's really not. Like a house into a home. Through the sheer power of finely-honed, silver-tongued hyperbole. So, let's see if we can do this featured property thing in a slightly different way. Take a detour from the same old same old you've come to distrust. As one potential buyer blurted out when he called about this home yesterday: "Only $649,000? What's the matter with it?" This may seem a little strange to some of you. May prove refreshing to others. Still others may see this as a clever ruse. A thinly veiled attempt to coax, cajole, trick, persuade, lure and draw people in with a version of that famous smoke and mirrors trick known as the "irresistible undersell". Which is it? You'll have to come and see for yourself. And decide for yourself. That's the way it has to be. Because no matter what you or I think, the market decides in the end. And all of you individual people looking at individual homes, togeth- 1122 Western Drive, Westside Santa Cruz er, are the market. Right off the bat, I'm going to make a solemn pledge. I promise I won't use the word "charming." As of today, I'm retiring it. Tossing it on the scrapheap of real estate's most over-inflated adjectives. Then I'm going to issue a spoiler alert and tell you that some of the photos of this house came out so nice they look better than the actual reality they portray. And when I say ocean peek? I really do mean a little itty bitty one. I don't want to burst any bubbles or rain on anyone's blue sky here. I know hope always springs eternal and buyers just can't help hoping against hope sometimes. But truth be told… this is not a perfect house. Three bedrooms/two baths on a 16,000 square foot lot in this location for this price in this market? It couldn't possibly be perfect. Not every property is meant for every person. A place either works or it doesn't. Homes either resonate with where people are at in life and what their vision about the future is or they don't. Here's what I do know: There will be multiple offers on this home. And I recognize how unfair that seems to quite a few frustrated buyers out there who don't want to compete. I also know there's going to be some deserving buyer who will work diligently and end up with a property that they really love. Specially after they've put part of themselves into it to shape and augment the great things that are already here. Who isn't going to like this property? Anyone looking for granite counters, gleaming hardwood floors, bullnose corners or brand new Pella windows. Not to mention giant spa tubs, stainless steel appliances, radiant heat or a master bedroom the size of a football field. Who will like this property? Soulful gardeners. Aspiring builders looking for good bones. Peace and privacy junkies. Westside fans. Self-reliant, do it yourself-er fixer-uppers who really like the idea of an upside. People that can tune into a true sense of place. Those drawn to the sight of manicured paths through the sunny apertures of divided-light window frames while the gentle sound of a waterfall cascades and cleanses the air. Which person are you? I don't know. Check it out. You have to decide for yourself. - 3 Bedrooms/2 Baths - 1850 +/- Square Feet - Single Level - Wheelchair Accessible - Separate Office - Country Farmhouse Feel - 16,000 Sq Ft Parcel - Oversized 2 Car Garage - In-Ground Pool w/Dressing Facilities - Fireplace - Vaulted Ceiling - Small Peek of Bay - Fully Fenced Yard - Sunny South Orientation - Private Garden Setting - Landscaped Pathways - Waterfall - Close to: Wilder / Grey Whale / Meder St. Parks / UCSC getreal@sanctuaries.com Tom Brezsny, Realtor 818-1431
