Many women learned this intricate craft from their family members, neighbors, and friends. Homemade quilts are treasures, thanks to the sharing of the skill through the years. Here at the Neal Center, quilting has been a popu- lar activity for years that you may have always wanted to learn. On the other hand, you may be an experienced quilter, looking to enhance your skill level. The Neal Center is offering two class- es in quilting, beginning on Tuesday, August 20 through November 12. If you are new to quilting or have very limited quilting abilities, a class in "Beginning Quilting" class will meet Tuesdays from 1PM-4PM, at the Neal Center. For those experi- enced quilters that would like to learn advanced tech- niques, a class in "Advanced Quilting" will meet each Tuesday from 9AM-12Noon. Brenda Arrowood, local quilting expert, is the instruc- tor for both classes. For further information on registering for these class- es, please contact Cleveland Community College's Continuing Education divi- sion at 704/669-1405. Join the Neal Senior Center as they travel to Greensboro, NC for a live show and lunch at the Barn Dinner Theatre, the coun- try's longest continually- operating dinner theatre. The outing includes lunch and the matinee play "The Red Plaid Shirt." Two friends fill the void left by retirement in differ- ent ways; Marty wants to explore the open road on a Harley while Fred decides to pay more attention to his health, inventing many new ailments along the way. With "subtle redirec- tion" from their wives and some creative problem solv- ing (which may or may not include a homemade coffin) they find the right track, eventually. The cost is $86.00 per person. Make your check payable to Burel Harris. A deposit of $25 is due at sign up and full amount due August 15. Park at Neil Senior Center and bus will pull out at 10:30. You can leave your name and phone number along with your deposit at the Senior Center desk or call 704-477-6863 or 704-477- 1075 Burel and Pam Harris.
