Staff The Goshen News GOSHEN — Roger Schneider, a journalist who has worked at The Goshen News for 29 years, has been promoted to editor. Schneider has been employed at the newspaper since Aug. 21, 1989. He originally was assigned to cover the city government and business beats. Schneider was then promoted to city editor, a position he filled until being designated interim editor in September 2018 after the departure of former manag- ing editor Julie Beer. Beer now works for Concord Community Schools as a communications coordina- tor. Schneider has been a photojournalist, reporter and editor at different times during his 42 years in the news industry. "I am grateful to have the support, encouragement and backing of our leaders at CNHI, which operates The Goshen News," he said. "While I have been a journalist in Goshen for almost 30 years, I never take our readers for granted. My goal every day in our newsroom is to assist the staff in writing articles that inform our readers about what is going on in our local communities and present that information in an impartial and insightful way. "Gathering the local news is a team effort, and our reporters have been provid- ing our readers articles that are insightful and informing and expand the community's base of knowledge." Schneider said that under his leadership, the talented journalists at The Goshen News will continue to tackle meaningful issues that are of concern locally. In addition, The Goshen News will continue to expand its online presence through goshennews.com and by its posting to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. "We are living during a time where news is delivered quicker than ever across several digital platforms as well as the traditional newspapers delivered to mailboxes in the four counties we cover," Schneider said. He added that all types of platforms for local news will be employed to deliver the best news product possible. Schneider lives in Goshen with his wife of 35 years, Kelley. They are parents of three grown children. "My goal every day in our newsroom is to assist the staff in writing articles that inform our readers about what is going on in our local communities ..."
