What makes us Christians free? Scripture makes us free— John 8:31-32. Scripture is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword. The Son makes us free— John 8:36. Freedom flows from the written Word and the living Word, our Savior Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit also makes us free—II Cor- inthians 3:17. He sets us free from the law and gives us grace; the fruits of the Spir- it go beyond the law and free the saints. Pray for those in hospitals, nursing homes, your neigh- bors, any that are sick and in bondage, and also remem- ber in prayer our president, government and Jerusalem. "We live in a great country," she an- nounced. "One of the things we should be happy is that, in this country, we are all free." Trevor, who was a little boy in her class, came walk- ing up to her from the back of the room. He stood with his hands on his hips and said loudly, "I'm not free. I'm four." "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream.
