20 Diversity Rules Magazine June 2019 KindRED Pride Founda on is proud to announce their first ever "Pride Cup." The Pride Cup in 2019 will be a Virtual Sport-A-Thon & FunRaiser, an online event where people around the world can par cipate and be part of the Red Shirt Pride Day Around the World – a global event inspired by the 29-year tradi on that started at Walt Disney World® Resorts back in 1991. How does this work? Par cipants are asked to ei- ther put a team together or sign up as an individual at: www.thepridecup.com. Just par cipate in your favorite sport or fun ac vity, whether it be walk- ing, running, swimming, biking, bowling, golfing, or even ballroom dancing, bodybuilding and wrestling, whatever sport you enjoy. Then go out and play wearing RED on the first Saturday of June, which is June 1st this year. Individuals or Teams that raise $250 or more for the KindRED Founda on, while just having fun, receive a free "Pride Cup" t-shirt. If a 501c3 organiza on signs up to take part, and put a team in the event 50% of whatever that team raises goes directly back to their charity. "What a fun way to get everyone involved in the 29th annual Pride event at Disney the first weekend in June" said Tom Christ of KindRED Pride, "in 2020, the goal is to expand The Pride Cup even further by having mul -sport compe ons at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on Disney property. We are very excited, and looking forward to crea ng this huge LGBT+ spor ng event, and this year, with the virtual compe on, is a way for us to begin and get people as excited as we are." KindRED Pride Founda on – The KindRED Pride Founda on was inspired by the desire to expand the magic created by the 29-year tradi on of the original "Gay Day at Magic Kingdom" in Orlando. The event started with just a handful of people who decided they would meet socially on the first Saturday in June in front of the castle. They would all wear RED t-shirts to iden fy each other since they had only met on a bulle n board and never in person. The KindRED Pride Founda on's mission is to honor the kindred spirit, bravery, and courage of the original a endees back in 1991 by bringing the commu- nity together to celebrate our differences as well as our "one- ness" and to support endeavors by like-minded chari es within the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Ques oning, Intersex, and Ally com- munity (LGBTQIA) by producing spor ng, music, and other special events.
