I hope you are planning to a end a pride celebra on near you, as they are an important and integral compoment of the fabric of queer life. It is that spe- cial me of year when queer folk and allies throughout the na on and the world come together to celebrate their individuality, and the diversity of our humanity. More importantly, it is a me for us to remember those who put their lives on the line back in 1969, on that hot, summer night in NYC when a group of patrons at the Stonewall Inn rebelled against police persecu on. They pushed back when the bar was once again raided by police, like so many mes before, simply be- cause it was a gay bar. We must keep the memory of those who stood their ground that night and said, "NO MORE." Li le did these brave patrons know that their ac on that night would reverber- ate around the world, and foster what would become the modern- day gay rights movement. Happy pride month! Get to a pride near you and experience the power and energy of oth- ers of like mind. It is an amazing feeling. This issue also includes some great features. Joey Amato takes us to gay life in Bloomington, Il- linois. If you are ever there, Joey has given you a lot to see and do. Addi onally, Ron Blake sends Mayor Pete some good words of advice. Tony Guadag- nino con nues his series on gay icons, with Be e Midler and Cher being the focus of this month's column. There are a lot of other great ar cles of interest as well, so please make sure you check them all out. See you in July! Diversity Rules Magazine PO Box 72 Oneonta, NY 13820 James R.
