Sharon Phillips was very happy in Columbus, Ohio and though she missed her family she enjoyed the pace of life in the city. Phillips, a graduate of RS Central High School, earned her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Augustine���s University in Raleigh graduating Cum Laude, and then moved to Columbus, Ohio where she completed her Juris Doctorate at Capital University Law School. Over the next thirteen years she held a variety of legal positions starting as the Lead Law Clerk at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, and continuing to become a consultant with the Adusei Law Group. Phillips��� handled litigation support to clients, wrote a training manual which illustrated proper procedures for handling due process claims and compliance with rights and responsibilities, handled simple wills, dissolutions/uncontested divorce, review of worker���s compensation claims with a variety of Human Resource Departments, and is trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution and has worked as a Mediator. When her Mother, Mae McKinney Phillips, began to have health issues, Phillips like many of us, embraced the opportunity to spend precious time caring for her Mom. Phillips said, ���Being able to spend time with my Mom before her death was precious to me. Now my favorite time is with my seven year old nephew, Roman.��� She continued, ���Coming home you ���nd many things seem the same, but others are both a surprise and still others are just fun. For instances, going through Shelby the traf���c was amazing where did that come from? Being back in the land of livermush, grits and Cheerwine is great; you could not ���nd those in Ohio. I was also surprised at the number of restaurants in the county. Who eats out enough to support them all? When I lived here we did not have but a few places, so this is a change I appreciate.��� Phillips continues to consult with the Adusei Law Group as she prepares to take the North Carolina Bar Exam. She currently holds a North Carolina Independent/Adjuster���s License and her PTIN and is working with Jackson-Hewitt in Forest City.
