Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com ©Community First Media Community First Media How many times have we heard people say "I really don't want to think about death or dying?" As a funeral director, I have seen what happens when death suddenly occurs, and the decedent has never communicated their wishes or left fi nal instructions. It is hard to lose a loved one, but the pain is compounded when the grieving survivor must sort through a mound of paperwork and deal with questions which can only be answered by the one who has passed. Therefore, I strongly suggest to people that they consider their loved ones and "put their house in order" before their death occurs. Even if a person does not want to or does not have the means to fund a pre- need, sitting down with a funeral director and putting everything on paper does not cost a cent. It is just a practical act of kindness toward their family. Does your spouse or children have knowledge of the whereabouts of your insurance information, deed to the house, car titles, military discharge papers, family history information and any other pertinent information? What a blessing it is for a grieving family to have access to all the information needed at the time of a loved one's death.
