both students and clients for commission work. The busi- ness does workshops, classes and camps, which will begin this summer. Heather invites other artists she's met to teach, and is open to any new medium, style, method or project that peo- ple want to learn, or teach. "I do a lot of fluid acrylic," she said. "I began by asking myself 'what do I like – what can I teach?' I work with acrylic and resin, taking these mediums, to create stand alone artworks, and also more functional pieces, like tables, coasters and cheeseboards. I have people who are going to conduct stained glass and oil paint- ing workshops. Soon I hope to add pottery and sculpture. I'd like to put in four or five potter's wheels." Classes are two to four weeks long, once a week. Workshops are one day/two hour events. Camps will be offered during the summer over an eight week period, in half day or full day incre- ments. They're divided into those appropriate for age eight and up, all ages, or sixth grade. The diversity of these courses is amazing. Anything from planting flowers, to fiber art wall hangings, to jewelry mak- ing, to mixed media sculp- tures to digging for fossils and making a volcano. The schedule, pricing and regis- tration are available online at www.everything- artistic.com. Some spots are still available, but if inter- ested, look now. Classes take place two to three times a week and you can book a birthday party on weekends. Heather is also on Facebook and that's another great way to take a look at the types of works she creates. After she told me her schedule, and that she was pretty much always around, I wondered how she relaxes. "My chil- dren and I hike and camp in Colorado," she explained. "I'll take about three weeks off and that totally refreshes me." Sounds wonderful to me. Heather feels strongly that anyone with a desire to learn and be creative, despite their age or previous artistic experience, can do so. But hers are not the type of classes where people fol- low the leader. "I am always evolving and constantly learning new things," she said. "So that's what I would like people to experience here too." Everything Artistic is located at 139 S. 6th Ave. in West Bend. The entrance is at the rear of the building. The phone is 262- 339-9201. The web site is above. Generally, hours are Sun., Tues. and Thurs., 12-3, Fri., 12-5, closed Mondays and Wednesdays, with par- ties and workshops sched- uled on Saturdays. 8 • EXPLORING THE ARTS • Daily News & News Graphic • April 2019 True: From Page 7 Sheryl Popp/Special to Conley Media The artwork above is actually larger than the one below. It's an over-the-sofa commissioned piece. The study in red is a small- er decorative painting for the wall.
