usually, I smile a bit when the calendar turns
to march.
the days are noticeably longer, we get an extra
hour of light in the afternoon and, with any luck,
spring begins to show itself.
I say, "with any luck," because we haven't been
so lucky lately.
Last year, the harrisburg area got walloped by
a late snowstorm on the first day of spring, and
it feels like we haven't had a truly warm march
in years.
but maybe this year will be different?
I've taken to judging the quality of early spring
by the weather on st. Patrick's Day.
I don't celebrate much myself, but I always
make sure to take a walk through downtown
harrisburg to check out the always-vibrant
scene. A few years ago, I remember folks sitting
at tables outside, the sidewalks thick with
people barhopping and socializing. Last year—
brrrr—not so much.
so, we'll see what happens during this highly
volatile month. Personally, I think we're due for
some decent weather and, one of these years, I
swear, I'm going to be right.
well, there is one thing that I can control, and
that's the item that you're holding in your hands
right now. welcome to our march issue!
For a second straight year, we include a special
section devoted to women in business. now, all
year long, we write about local businesses, and
many of those are owned or led by women.
however, in march, we feature even more
stories about the remarkable women who are
transforming the business world in our region.
outside of that section, you'll discover our
usual wide range of content for this eclectic,
diverse area, stories covering everything from
community news and food to culture, health
and events.
I believe you'll find something to your liking,
whether you're reading theburg al fresco on
a balmy, early spring day or huddled inside
watching the snowflakes fly as winter refuses to
leave. In march, anything can happen.
