Meteorologist Sarah Marquardt said, the snowfall on Sunday and Monday at Mitchell International Airport was 7.0 inches. "It was the coldest max temper- ature for Jan. 30 at -10 in Milwaukee, and a tie for the eighth coldest maximum tempera- ture ever. The coldest maximum temperature was -13 in Jan 15, 1972. We have not seen a stretch of cold weather like this one since 1996. The coldest temperature ever recorded in Milwaukee (since 1871) was -26 set on Feb. 3, 1996, and Jan 17, 1982," Marquardt said Wednesday. Due to the weather, Thursday was the fifth straight school day classes were canceled for Milwaukee Public School stu- dents. The district closed schools on Jan. 25, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. MPS issued an alert stating all schools and district offices are closed as well as all district after- school, recreation and athletic programs and events. Gov.
