Glover Little Board Certified Urologist is now seeing patients at Rutherford Urology A new urology practice attending to patients in the outpatient department of Rutherford Regional Medical Center Call 828-287-7332 ACCEPTANCE DELAYED On Tuesday January 8, 2013 the Internal Revenue Service began informing taxpayers that Tax Return E-File will be delayed until January 30th. These delays are due to the changes made by Congress with the American Taxpayer Relief Act (ATRA) voted in over the New Year's holiday. The IRS will begin accepting returns on Wednesday, January 30th, after the updating of forms and when programming changes are complete. Some taxpayers filing certain forms may incur further delays, possibly sending the processing of those returns into February and March. The IRS will not process paper filed returns until the January 30th date as well. Most notable of the delayed forms are 4562 Depreciation, Forms 5695, 8908 and 8909 Energy Efficient Credits, and Form 3800 General Business Credits. The 4562 Depreciation Form is critical for all business owners with business use assets. "We have worked hard to open tax season as soon as possible" IRS Acting Commissioner Stephen Miller said. "This date ensures we have the time we need to update and test our processing systems." The e-file delay includes all paid tax preparation firms as well as online services. Refund will not be issued until the IRS acknowledges and accepts the return and verifies pertinent information. "There is no Rapid Refund anymore!" states Dan J Thomas, IRS Enrolled Agent with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. "The Banking Commission and IRS regulations have stopped banks from doing Refund Anticipation Loans nationwide. All taxpayers must file and wait for the refunds to come." The IRS has also pulled its refund schedule and changed the Where's My Refund function on their website in anticipation of a longer timeframe in funding refunds. Thomas warns tax filers to be wary of promises of Quick Refunds," If it sounds too good, it probably is not a safe way to go. Scams and fraud will be more prevalent with these delays. Be sure your preparer has a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) to confirm they have completed mandatory IRS education in the past year." Article compliments of: Charlotte Ware Epley
