We could write a whole treatise about the historical conditions around Jesus' birth, but a simpler observation would be that God sent His Son into this world at exactly the perfect time in history. God chose the right place, the right people and of course the right time for His Son to be born. When we think about the timing of God in relation to Christ's birth, we cannot deny His sovereignty over all of creation. Just as He orchestrated Jesus' coming into this world, He also oversees all of the events and circumstances in our lives. A person who lives life without God is relegated to looking at life as a series of random happenings. This world-view will eventually lead to despair, depression and hopelessness. We may not be able to comprehend it with our fi nite minds, but every event, whether it be good or bad, is ultimately in God's hands. There is no such thing as coincidence in God's world. Nothing takes place without His knowledge, forethought and purpose. The proper response to this eternal truth should be one of submission and humility. We must learn to trust His heart even when we have trouble trusting His hand. If He did not love us so much, then He would've never sent His only begotten Son into this world at just the right time.
