Patrick (not pictured) and Lisa Ellis owners of Ellis Mountain Paradise, will open an outdoor wedding venue in Old Fort with choices of 3 ceremony sites. They also plan to build tiny cabins on the same property to package with the wedding venue. Jeff and Denita Plemmons, owners of Top Fuel Grill in Old Fort, who want to open a restaurant featuring steaks, burgers, etc. in the warehouse behind Possibilities (the old Moore's Building) at South Main and East Henderson Streets. Heidi Barrier who has opened The Makery, a business selling and teaching people how to make craft items, located at 19 North Main Street next to Refi nery 13. Over the past two years, there have been 75 people, representing 50 businesses, graduate from the GEM program, resulting in many new businesses, including seven new businesses so far in the Downtown area, and the creation of 45 jobs. With an investment of $23,900 so far in GEM grants, the GEM program has resulted in private investment so far of almost $2.4 million, over $2 million of which is the Downtown area, with more investment planned as additional new businesses open, fi ve of which will be located Downtown.
