Giving Tuesday, a nationwide social media movement that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, emphasizes good- will and generosity rather than the commercialism associated with Christmas. Count the Milwaukee Jewish Day School among them with its second "Unselfie" campaign this year. Those interested can download a PDF file from the MJDS website, print it out, write down a good deed they've done for their com- munity (such as volunteering at a local food pantry), take a selfie with the hashtags #UNselfie #ilovemjds, and share on Facebook and Instagram. MJDS Marketing Director Sarah Pinkowski said the aim of the campaign is to make the pub- lic aware of the school's mission and values, including tikkun olam (Hebrew for "repair of the world"). In the past, MJDS students have donated to many local organ- izations, among them the Wisconsin Humane Society and Children's Hospital. "We've seen a really good jump in our social media. We hope to see a ripple effect," Pinkowski said. "We really want this to be a huge community effort." Those interested in donating to MJDS from now through Dec. 31 will have their gift matched up to $100,000. Helping the homeless, the hungry Milwaukee organization Com- munity Advocates, 728 N.
