Ron Johnson stopped by Conley News Service and discussed his desire to contin- ue to tackle issues of immigration in the United States. "First of all, it's about time we had that conversation," Johnson said. "It's (birthright citizenship) a huge incentive. It's a huge reward for people coming into the system illegally. What we need is consequences." He added that a number of countries have revoked birthright citizenship over the last several years and that prior to the 1960s, the right was only granted to peo- ple in the country legally. As the discussion on how to handle immigration continues, Johnson says the main tenets of whatever bill that's passed would be to keep families together while still enforcing current immigration laws.
