Bianchi went back to school at California State University, Chico where she had created a master plan for parks and recreation in Te- hama County during her graduate program, and got her teaching cre- dential. She taught in Tehama County for 15 years to help with the cost of sending the chil- dren to college. Five years ago, the family opened it's first business, which was the walnut shop and not long after that began Bi- anchi began her adven- ture as a wine maker. The girls run the shop three days a week and the goal is to eventually open it five days a week. The family also has a small organic gardening project with a few trees of apples, peaches, pomegranates, pears and olives in addition to about 15 prunes trees left of the original ones on the property as well the vineyard for the win- ery. Continuing education is something important her mother, who was one of the first women to graduate from UCLA, taught her, Bianchi said. She and her son both took a short course on walnut production from UC Davis, she said. Her mother is also a huge part of helping her fulfill her dream, which is why it was important to her to help her three daugh- ters fulfill their dream of having a shop together and her son's dream to buy 20 acres. It's also important to stay active and healthy, Bianchi said. In addition to the hiking she did to prepare for hiking the El Camino De Santiago in Spain, she walks daily to keep healthy, she said. For women wanting to start their own busi- ness, her advice is to be confident and do their research on everything including knowing the full responsibility of run- ning the business and responsibility for every- thing that happens in it, she said. It's also impor- tant to be confident, be excellent detail and to be kind, but also hap- piness is a key compo- nent. "To be happy and grateful is so important," Bianchi said. "Gratitude is the elixir to happi- ness."
