Jonathan H. Eldridge, 33, was charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of Benjamin Eldridge, 34, both of Milwaukee. A witness in the back seat of the car said the two men got into a fight while in the younger brother's car and it was pretty even until Jonathan Eldridge stabbed his brother, according to a criminal complaint. The wit- ness said in the complaint that he yelled at them to stop fighting but didn't want to intervene because he was afraid that Jonathan Eldridge would turn on him. Another driver saw two men punching each other in the car stopped on Lincoln Avenue near Beloit Road. The victim ran from the car and was later found around 2 a.m. Sept. 24 in the 6700 block of Lincoln Avenue, the complaint said. An officer saw the wounds and initially police believed the victim may have been shot and stabbed. An autopsy revealed a stab wound in the chest entered the victim's heart, another one cut the right forearm and a third cut the left upper arm, along with scrapes and bruises, with the medical examiner concluding the death was a homicide, the complaint said. The witness in the back of the car said in the complaint that Jonathan Eldridge later cleaned out the bloody car after seeing police near where his brother exited, which made him think his brother was seriously hurt. Eldridge later told authorities that they were drinking, got into an argument and the victim started hitting him while the car was moving and that he almost lost control of the vehicle, which caused him to stab his broth- er. He said in the complaint he couldn't remember what the fight was about. If convicted of the charge, Jonathan Eldridge faces up to 25 years in prison.
