County Executive Chris Abele, who statutorily is handed the task of presenting the 18-person County Board with a draft docu- ment each fall, has been holding a series of budget-themed open houses in recent weeks. A small handful of supervi- sors on the County Board also have been with him to share the challenges at each of the gather- ings. At a meeting Tuesday at Kosciuszko Community Center, Supervisors Marina Dimitrijevic, Jason Haas, Sylvia Ortiz-Velez and Steven Shea were on hand. The four supervisors represent portions of the county's near and far south sides. This budg- et season, Dimitrijevic e n c o u r a g e d attendees to weigh in on what they viewed was i m p o r t a n t within the functions of county gov- ernment. "I'd like to live in a community that not just maintains, but assesses the needs of the community," Dimitrijevic said as she offered up her own viewpoint. In more recent years, Abele said the situation from one year to County officials seeking public input on $23 million shortfall in 2019 budget See COUNTY on Page 10 Dimitrijevic calls for assessing community needs Local news at your fingertips Visit www.gmtoday.com Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/MilwaukeePost Dimitrijevic ALL-U-CAN-EAT FISH FRY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5 4:30-7pm St. Florian Parish Adults $11 Children 3-10 $7.50 CARD SOCIAL Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 6:00-11:30pm • Doors open at 5:30pm Donation of $12 for a fun-filled evening.
