What better way to offer your time then by fostering an adorable dog for the Fluffy Dog Rescue of Hartland? Fluffy Dog began six years ago when founder Lori Marchek found Bailey online at a pet shelter in Alabama set to be euthanized in just a few days. Since then, Fluffy Dog has rescued 1,200 dogs, usually from Alabama. Marchek said the rescue specializes in single coat, low-shed dogs of any size. Fluffy Dog typically fosters about 50 dogs at a time with a few also temporarily housed at Tail Waggin' Doggy Daycare in Hartland. They are always in need of responsible foster families. Marchek said most of the animals they receive are not aggressive, but do require basic training such as potty training and learning simple commands. The typical foster period is six weeks, but can be as short as three days or as long as a year. Marchek said fostering a Robert F. Marchek said Fluffy Dog is also in need of drivers to help transport the dogs to foster homes in different areas of Wisconsin. It also needs dog walkers to assist with the dogs kept at the day care. "Winter in Wisconsin is a great time to re-feather your nest," said interior designer Patricia Gibbons, owner of Patina Interiors. Gibbons suggested painting an accent wall with a fresh and unexpected color. The color choice depends entirely on each house and personal preference, but Gibbons did suggest that in a more neutral home, picking a color out of a favorite painting or a throw pillow is a great place to start. Another way to add a bit of extra color is to paint the ceiling a different color. Pewaukee residents Scott Schmittinger and Carol Limbach relax in the Pewaukee Public Library lower level Dec. 4.
