MEQUON — The Mequon Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club will host its 21st annual Rotary Lobsterfest fundraiser from 5:30 p.m. to to 9 p.m. Sept. 15 at the River Club of Mequon, 12400 N. Ville Du Parc Drive. This year the fundraiser will again feature a wonderful whole Maine lobster dinner (and other dinner options) with fun and interesting auctions to support great causes. Rotary is a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders who strive to serve local and international communities through humanitarian and community service initiatives. This year Rotary set out to plant one tree for each of its 1.2 million worldwide members to restore the globe's dwindling tree canopy and improve the world's atmosphere. Rotarians exceeded that goal by more than 3 million trees. Locally, the men and women of MT Sunrise Rotary were instrumental in planting nearly 700 native trees and shrubs at Pukaite Woods in Rotary Park and at the Mequon Nature Preserve. They are committed to continue working on reforestation in the park's woodland for years to come. In addition to supporting environmental projects, MT Sunrise Rotary provides money and muscle to supply local and international scholarships and life-saving projects, including medical and dental services, immunizations to prevent crippling/killing diseases like polio and installing clean water and sanitation infrastructure. Annually, M-T Rotary sends local high school students to the World Affairs Seminar with students from around the world to foster global problem solving and peace. Rotarians also collect health and medical supplies for those in need, and staff annual medical missions trips to Guatemala and Africa. Ozaukee County service organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Family Promise, Family Sharing and Advocates, serving families, women and children in the county are beneficiaries of Rotary support. Rotary leads community projects like the Riverwalk and the new Gateway Promenade in the Mequon-Thiensville town center. People who like to eat well, have a good time and support good causes, can go to www.mylobsterfest.org to register to attend this annual affair. Everyone is welcome. Lobsterfest will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 at River Club of Mequon, 12400 N. Ville du Parc Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m. A silent auction and cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person. A cracking good time
