FROM THE PUBLISHER You guess who's boss: with Vegas Editor-in-Chief Abby Tegnelia at our holiday 2012 party. I celebrated the opening night of Shania: Still the One with the country icon, who was also our December cover star. ABOVE: Charriol's Ori Zemer invited me to his home course at The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, California. LEFT: Steph Wilson and I visited Summerlin's newest hot spot, Honey Salt. Best, JOSEF B. VANN 18 PHOTOGRAPHY BY CASHMAN PHOTO (TWAIN) If you are reading my publisher's letter, then the Mayans were wrong, and we ushered in 2013 without incident. Welcome to this, our first issue of 2013. We are extraordinarily proud of Vegas magazine this year because we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary with our Summer issue. This is a huge accomplishment in consumer publishing and a huge accomplishment in Las Vegas! This Winter issue is replete with fabulous pieces. The first of which are our cover stars, Penn & Teller, who are celebrating the 20th anniversary of having their own show here in Vegas. Pay particular attention to Penn's ring finger in the issue: There's always something offbeat and clever with this guy. Also, a word of caution regarding his Follow me on Twitter at better half, Emily: Never give her strokes on @josefvann and on the golf course! vegasmagazine.com. The piece about my friend Joe Magliarditi enlightens us about his extraordinary vision for the Palms and the re-gentrification that's abound. His goal? More sophistication and elegance delivered in a sexy package. Joe… I'm in! Next is Bobby D. Robert De Niro shares his insights about Nobu and Las Vegas in On the Town. Needless to say, our editor-in-chief Abby was ecstatic to interview this mega-legend. Bellagio has never looked so good as in our fashion spread. You'll love the clothes, model, and the famous fountains. In Haute Property, we examine the resurgence of Lake Las Vegas, which brings a smile to my face as I've quite enjoyed the getaway without getting away while visiting this desert oasis. Lastly, our Guide opener features Tivoli Village's Cantina Laredo. I implore you to delve into both their fresh guacamole made tableside as well as a dish that most Americans have never tried: enchiladas de mole—something the Mayans probably invented.
