Gov. Scott Walker's team is emphasizing his record, while a Republican primary challenger and the field of Democratic oppo- nents are gearing up for the August primary to select final candidates for the November elec- tion. The Post checked in with the campaigns to ask about the issues they are focusing on in the last stretch before Tuesday's primary election. Appearing in alphabetical order, here are how the nine candidates responded. Evers (Democrat, age 66) Wisconsin state Superintendent Tony Evers is talking about issues related to schools, the environ- ment, transportation, and health care as he campaigns across the state. "This campaign is about really important values that people of Wisconsin hold," Evers said in a recent interview with Conley News Service. Evers said his concern with the Foxconn project is "making sure they follow through on their promises" on hir- ing and sitting down to discuss and possibly "change their think- ing about environmental issues." With a 25-point lead over his closest rival ahead of the primary in a July Marquette University Law School poll, Evers said his campaign feels good about his chances. Asked about his view on the Act 10 law, Evers said he would sup- port a repeal of the legislation, but that is an unlikely outcome. "We'll work on some other things in addition to trying to get that repealed. Other ways to make sure teachers have a voice in the workplace," he said.
