sometimes, I feel that summertime in
harrisburg is cursed. It certainly has felt like
that this year.
Italian Lake concerts: rain. Independence
Day festival: rain. Free outdoor movies: rain.
harrisburg symphony in reservoir Park: rain.
Yikes. I don't mean to sound like a downer,
but as of this writing, it seems that more
events have been cancelled than went on as
scheduled.
so, let's regroup. the weather has to get
better for the final month of summer, right?
that's where I'm laying my bets anyway.
sometimes it's hard, but we try to maintain a
sunny attitude here at theburg.
In any case, odds are good that you're not
reading this from our fair city anyway. People
often grab copies on their way out of town
then send us shots of theburg in the wild—
from the beach, the mountains, etc. heck,
one dedicated fan once sent us pictures of
him "reading" a copy from piazzas in milan
and Florence (the perfect break from all
those artistic masterpieces, right?).
which brings me to my challenge. August
is getaway month. so email me photos of
yourself, your kids, your dog, whoever, with
theburg on your vacation, and we'll post it
to our Facebook page. Let's see all the places
theburg can go!
while you're gone, don't forget to visit our
website (and sign up for theburg Daily!) to
stay up to date on all the local news you're
missing. we love creating our monthly
magazine, but we report daily online, as well.
And rest assured, when you return from your
glorious summer travel, we'll still be here for you,
even if your reading venue changes from a new
england beach to a new cumberland couch.
