FOR THE Wedding, Anniversary or Engagement Announcement Company's Wisconsin investments top $1 billion since 2014 Post Staff MILWAUKEE — After news broke last week that Amazon is considering buying 80 acres south of Ryan Road in Oak Creek for a four-story distribution center, the Seattle- based company announced it has hired more than 4,000 full-time employees over the past three years in Wisconsin, far exceeding its plan to hire 1,250 people. Amazon's 1 million-square-foot Kenosha fulfillment center opened in 2015 with 1,000 workers, the company said Saturday. "Since our first day at the Kenosha facil- ity, we've received amazing support from the community and we couldn't be prouder to be part of the Wisconsin family," Mark Stewart, Amazon's vice president of North America Customer Fulfillment, said in the release. "Reaching more than 4,000 full-time, per- manent employees is an incredible mile- stone for Amazon and Wisconsin," Gov. Scott Walker said in a news release Monday. "The fact that Amazon more than tripled its initial job-creation projections in Wisconsin is a monumental success story." "We appreciate Amazon's investment in Kenosha, which has created thousands of jobs and opportunities for our residents at the two fulfillment facilities in the city," Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian said. "We are pleased to see Amazon finding success in our community." More than $1 billion has been added to Wisconsin's economy since 2014 through Amazon's investments, the company said. Using statistical methods developed by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Amazon said its investments have created an addi- tional 5,500 indirect jobs on top of the com- pany's direct hires. In addition to two fulfillment facilities with a 1.5 million-square-foot footprint in Kenosha, Amazon has opened a Prime Now hub, an Amazon Fresh site and a delivery station in Milwaukee. The average hourly wage for Amazon's more than 4,000 full-time employees in Wisconsin, including cash, stock, and incentive bonuses, is over $14.50 per hour before overtime, the company said. Amazon also has its international head- quarters in Madison for Shopbop, an online retail destination employing hundreds of full-time employees, the company said.
