Officials within the organiza- tion say that is about to change. In recent months, leaders with- in the public transportation agency have been touting a multi- phased plan, dubbed MCTS NEXT, which promises faster service, more connections and increased accessibility. Brendan Conway, spokesman for the MCTS, said the review process underway is "the first top- to-bottom review" since the entity in its current form came into exis- tence in the 1970s. "We're not looking to throw the baby out with the bath water," Conway said, pointing out the core of the MCTS' operations plan is expected to remain in tact. "But a few small things can make a big change." New developments The goal of modernizing how the MCTS approaches its opera- tions plan comes as new develop- ments dot the landscape. It also comes at a time when the public agency is competing with other transportation service providers, including such emerging ride- share and bike-share services as Uber and Bublr, respectively.
