A-6 Wednesday, December 26, 2012 The Press-Dispatch Winslow man arrested after alleged domestic dispute According to a report filed by Pike County Sheriffs deputy Jeff Boger, at 8:45 p.m. on Monday, December 17, Pike County Sheriffs deputies Jeff Boger and Dallas Killian were dispatched to 6074 S Augusta Vigo Street in Winslow after receiving a call from Michelle Jones, who stated she had been battered by her ex-husband Jerry D. Jones, age 46 of the same address. On the way to Winslow, Killian contacted Michelle via cell phone, and Michelle told him she had left the residence and was at the rock yard on State Road 64 near Augusta. The deputies met her at the rock yard, where she showed them injuries on her right eye and behind her left ear. Michelle stated that Jerry had held her down and tried to cut off her ear with a knife. Michelle also said her 15-year-old daughter was still at the residence, and that Jerry had told Michelle he would kill her daughter. Deputies Killian and Boger went to the home to check on Michelles daughter. The deputies met police corporal Chad Tharp at the residence and knocked on the door. After a few seconds, they heard a yell from inside and Jerry appeared in the doorway, holding a long object in his left hand. The officers decided the object in his hand was probably a weapon and drew their own weapons on him. Deputy Boger ordered Jerry to drop what he was holding and get on the ground. Instead, he held the object in a way that the officers could not clearly see it. Deputy Boger told him again to get on the ground, which made Jerry angry. He motioned to the officers, and told them to come on. Still not sure what was in Jerrys hand, Deputy Killian drew his taser and activated the laser sight, aiming just above Jerrys belt and ordered him to get on the ground. Jerry did not get on the ground, and Deputy Killian used the taser on him. The officers entered the residence and began to restrain Jerry, but he came to and resisted, pulling his hands away from Deputy Killian. Deputy Boger tried to secure Jerrys legs to the ground and used the taser on him again as he continued to resist. After three stuns, Jerry loosened his hands and was handcuffed. The officers then contacted EMS. While the officers waited for EMS to arrive to speak with Jerry, they saw he had fully recovered from his taser exposure. When EMS and first responders were on the scene, they requested that EMS check Jerrys vitals and get a printout of his EKG. Once he had been checked out, he was transported to the Pike County Jail by Deputy Boger. In the parking lot of the jail, Jerry began hitting his head against the passenger side window of the car. When Deputy Boger asked him what he was doing, he replied, You did that, but Deputy Boger advised him against saying that and he replied he was just kidding. A fter Jerry had been placed in jail, Michelle was asked to give a statement. She stated that she believed Jerry D. Jones knowingly and intentionally battered and criminally confined her.
