Mayes was being held pending a detention hearing that was set for Thursday, federal court record show, which is after the Post was to go to press this week. Mayes is a coordinator of Program the Parks, an org anization aimed at men- toring youths in the Sherman Park area, the same part of the city that suffered two days of violence Aug. 13-14, 2016, after Sylville Smith was shot and killed by Milwaukee Police officer Dominique Heaggan-Brown near North 44 Street and Auer Avenue. On Aug. 23, 2016, federal Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives agents were called to a Sherman Boulevard apartment where 10 Molotov cocktails were found in a garbage bin.
