Robert E. Johnson, 63, of 502 E. Hodges St., Petersburg was arrested on June 4. Police Sgt. Chad McClellan in a probable cause affidavit said after getting the report from Knox County he interviewed Johnson, who de- nied touching the girls in a sex- ual manner. According to the probable cause affidavit John- son said it was possible he had patted one of the girls "on the butt like a baseball player and she took it the wrong way." Child molesting is a Level 4 felony punishable by a presump- tive sentence of six years with a range of four to 12 years. Kendall arrested for possession By James Capozella Pike County Deputy Buck Seger was just north of Velpen when he found Daniel L. Kend- all, 34, 982 E CR725S Velpen in- toxicated and staggering across the roadway at 2 a.m. accord- ing to Seger's report. Follow- ing a conversation with Kendall and examination of a metal pill container in Kendall's pocket, it was found to hold 11 Tizani- dine muscle relaxer tablets and also Diazepam pills, a schedule IV controlled substance. Kendall had told Seger that he had a prescription for the muscle relaxer but had not mentioned the Diazepam med- ication, according to the re- port. In his arrest report, Seger asked Kendall several times if he could verify he had a pre- scription for the medication and Kendall stated "I don't feel like I need to verify. I told you I had them and gave them to you. If they were illegal I wouldn't have showed them to you and told you to look at them." Seger advised him that telling an of- ficer you possess something doesn't make it legal to possess. Deputy Jason McKinney ar- rived at the scene and from sev- eral feet away advised he could smell the strong odor of alcohol. When McKinney asked Kend- all how much alcohol he had to drink, he stated, "Too much." Kendall was placed in hand- cuffs and seated in Seger's pa- trol car due to his level of intoxi- cation, and dangerous road con- ditions at 2 a.m. in the morn- ing. He was booked into the Pike County jail at 2:27 a.m. on charges of possession of a controlled substance and pub- lic intoxication. Woman and two sons arrested after crash By Andy Heuring A Winslow woman and her two sons were arrested after police re- sponded to a report of a truck in a ditch on CR50W late last Tuesday. Edra L. Cannon 45, was arrested on preliminary charges of disorder- ly conduct, public intoxication, driv- ing while suspended and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Her two sons Adam J. Wedding, 20, was ar- rested on charged of disorderly con- duct and public intoxication, while Brian David Wedding was arrested on a charge of public intoxication. Pike County Deputy Paul Collier said he was notified at 10 :36 p.m. of a vehicle in a ditch. The caller said it appeared all three people with the ve- hicle were intoxicated. Deputy Collier said he arrived at 1355 N CR50W, and found Cannon and her two sons stumbling around in the road, with a black Chevrolet truck in a ditch about 50 feet behind them. According to his report, no one would tell him who was driving ini- tially. He said both Cannon and Ad- am were belligerent and yelling to the point neighbors were turning on their lights. Brian was cooperative. However he said eventually the boys told him Edra was driving. All three tested well above the le- gal limit for blood alcohol content in Indiana on a portable breath test. Deputy Collier said Cannon failed field sobriety tests and initially agreed to take a chemical test, but when she was transported to the Pike County Jail, she refused the test. Two arrested in home detention case By James Capozella A second traffic stop for Evelyn Turner for a home detention war- rant resulted in Evan Osgatharp be- ing charged with obstruction of jus- tice, assisting a criminal and false informing. The June 7 arrests were the re- sult of a request to investigate a Black S -10 Chevrolet parked at the Dollar General Store near Pike Central High School. Chief Deputy Sheriff Kent Johnson was told that Ethan Osgatharp was with Evelyn L. Turner who had not returned to home detention. Indiana Conserva- tion Officer Ken Tincher informed central dispatch of the situation and told Johnson there could be a cou- ple of vehicles involved. Johnson made the stop of the S -10 driven by Osgatharp, who Johnson knew from previous ar- rests. Johnson told Ethan he had information that Ms. Turner was traveling with him and that she had not returned to lawful deten- tion. Ethan said he had been with her yesterday, but she kicked him out of the vehicle in Jasper and she had all his clothes. Johnson told him he believed he knew where she was and if it was found out later he'd be charged with hindering a felony investigation, according to the re- port. Osgatharp assured Johnson he did not know where she was, ac- cording to the report. About an hour later Johnson re- ceived a call from Osgatharp that he was on his way to pick up Turn- er who was frantic and walking from Velpen on SR 257. They were to meet at the Otwell Junction, but while in route, Conservation Offi- cer Tincher called Johnson and told him that while watching the Carie house on North SR 257 he saw Os- gatharp and Turner leave the resi- dence in the same vehicle. Johnson was able to be at the junction pri- or to their arrival and made a traf- fic stop when the S -10 ran the stop sign at the intersection. The passenger identified herself as Jennifer Turner and gave her date of birth. Johnson showed her a picture which she identified as her- self and then confirmed she was Ev- elyn. She was handcuffed and Offi- cer Tincher then transported her to the Pike County jail. Deputy Jason McKinney assisted in the arrest. Osgatharp contended that Turn- er had been on the road and want- ed to speak with Pike County Pros- ecutor Darrin McDonald. In the meantime, officer Tincher advised Johnson that Osgatharp had cut off Turner's home detention bracelet, according to Turner. Osgatharp signed a waiver and then explained his side of the story to McDonald once he arrived at the Pike County Court House. Osgath- arp admitted he lied about Turner's whereabouts, and was taken into custody at approximately 1:30 p.m.
