C-2 Church Wednesday, May 16, 2018 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 "A kitten is the delight of a household. All day long a comedy is played out by an incomparable ac- tor"—Jules Champfleury. This week PAWS is featuring four precious young kittens who are anxious to find their forev- er family. These little girls have been raised in a fos- ter home and are quite so- cial and fun-loving. Little Marjorie is silver with black spots, and is extremely smart and ag- ile. Squeaker pictured in the back of the pile, with eyes alert, is a true tiger striped tabby, and she is extremely inquisitive, busy and communicates with a sweet, soft squeak. Little Bella is brown marble, with hints of ma- hogany, black and gold streaks throughout her medium length fur, and is PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the KITTENS Baptist Continued on page 3 a charmer, well-mannered and responsive. Tippy Tail pictured in the middle of the pack, is silver with faint black stripes and a dark black splotched tail with a white tip and four white tipped paws. She craves at- tention and will do anything to get it. These little fur balls are sure to bring laughter and love to your home. Their mother is known to be a proficient mouser and has likely passed this trait to her kittens as well. To adopt Marjorie, Bella, Squeaker, or Tippy Tail, call 812-354- 9894. Independent Independent have their graduation cere- mony on May 27. The church's youth will be participating in the 30 hour famine on May 25 -26 begin- ning at 6 p.m. Memorial Day will be on Monday, May 30. Be sure to give to the cemeteries and decorate your families rest- ing places. We need to show honor to those who served in our armed forces as well. This month is a busy one. Keep praying. God is Great. Our Mission Statement: Loving the 99, always look- ing for the one. Gary Pancake, Pastor Ivan Mason, Reporter ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. St. Rd. 61 Winslow 812-582-0354 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship and chil- dren's church 10 :30 a.m.; Sunday evening Bible study at 6 p.m. Business meeting third Sunday of each month, following morning worship. Jesus said, "Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing" ( John 15:5 NRSV ). Christ offers strength to cope with adversity, an- swers to problems, and the power to persevere, no matter what you are going through. When we try to rely on our own power and ability we often fail miser- ably. We must always trust in Him and the sufficien- cy of His grace. Christ is the source of life changing strength and hope. Remembering those who have lost loved ones, those who are in need of physical healing as well as spiritual healing, our coun- try and leaders. We invite you to worship with us. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Report- er FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH 8th and Poplar Street Petersburg 812-354-6582 Welcome to our church family Praise Team practice Sundays from 9 -9:30 a.m.; Sunday school from 9:30 - 10 :15 a.m.; morning wor- ship 10 :30 a.m.; Wednes- day Bible study from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and Jr. High/Sr. High youth from 6:15 -7:30 p.m. Summer Club will be Wednesdays from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. VBS will be July 8 -12 from 6 -8:30 p.m. For addi- tional information, call the church office, Monday-Fri- day from 8:30 a.m. to noon. "Because He lives, we can face tomorrow." Cindy Marchbanks, Sec- retary MT. PISGAH G.B. CHURCH (Augusta) Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m., children's Sun- day school during morning service; Wednesday night prayer meeting at 6:30 p.m., there will be a short devo- tion and prayer then snacks and fellowship. Saturday, May 19, will be clean up day at the church. Everyone is invited. As thy days, so shall thy strength be. When they shall lead you, and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but what- ever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. Be not anx- ious for tomorrow, for tomor- row will be anxious for the things of itself. Sufficient to the day it's own evil. The God of Israeli he that giveth strength and pow- er to [his] people. Blessed be God. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmi- ties, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. There- fore I take pleasure in infir- mities, in reproaches, in ne- cessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be deeply ap- preciated and I am sure you will enjoy the blessings of God. Always Present Help and Love "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1, K JV ). As we all know life is full of ups and downs, cra- zy and chaotic, and even fun or infuriating times. As Christians we can rest in the fact that God is there for us at all times he is there to shelter us from the storms of life, he can give us strength when we think that we can go no more, and help us even when we thing all hope is lost. Our heavenly father loves us and watches over us at all times. Does this mean that as Christians we should never have to face any hardship or trouble? No. God, as the best par- ent, knows what we must face to make us stronger but like this verse says, he is always present and if we need strength he will give it to us or rescued he will be there in a blink of an eye to help us. Never forget, that no matter the hard- ship, trouble or situation God still loves you, always. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all services. Come and wor- ship Jesus with us.
