Finishing 11th in an in- dividual event for the Char- gers was Theising in pre- liminaries for the 110 -meter high hurdles with a time of 18.84 seconds. Finishing 13th in individ- ual events for the Chargers were freshman Colt Arm- strong in the 200 -meter dash with a time of 24.54 seconds; and freshman Con- nor Young in the 300 -meter hurdles with a time of 52.27 seconds. Finishing 14th in individ- ual events for the Chargers were Young in the 110 -me- ter high hurdles with a time of 21.28 seconds; and junior Adam Kirby in the 400 -me- ter dash with a time of 58.78 seconds. Finishing 15th in indi- vidual events for the Char- gers were freshman Ethan Huck in preliminaries for long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 8 -1/2 inches; and fresh- man Stephen Krieg in pre- liminaries for shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 6 inches. Finishing 16th in an in- dividual event for the Char- gers was sophomore An- drew Clark in preliminaries for long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 4 inches; . Finishing 17th in indi- vidual events for the Char- gers were freshman Gar- rett Boyd in preliminaries for the 100 -meter dash with a time of 13.03 seconds; and sophomore Blake Hen- son in preliminaries for dis- cus with a throw of 90 feet, 2 inches. Finishing 18th in an in- dividual event for the Char- gers were Blake Henson in preliminaries for the 100 -meter dash with a time of 13.43 seconds; and Huck in the 200 -meter dash with a time of 25.87 seconds. In addition, the team of Armstrong, Huck, Theising and junior Jacob Vest placed sixth in the 1,600 -meter re- lay with a time of 3:51.70 ; the team of junior Christian Benson, sophomores A.J. Hill and Nate Woolery and freshman Lane Potts placed seventh in the 3,200 -meter relay with a season-best time of 9:07.48; and the team of Armstrong, Gavin Boyd, Tyler Kirby and The- ising placed eighth in the 400 -meter relay with a time of 47.64 seconds. "There were definitely a lot of good performances by our guys even though we only have three person- al bests," Pike Central head coach Chris Kramer said. "I feel like these guys are do- ing the right things here at the end of the season and it's putting them in the best po- sition to be at least close to their best performances, if not getting their best." As a team, the Chargers scored a total of 30 points, trailing Heritage Hills (117 points), Gibson South- ern (95), Forest Park (87), Tell City (79), South Spen- cer (76), Southridge (66) and North Posey (60). Te- cumseh was ninth with 14 points. Pike Central will com- pete in the sectional meet at Princeton on Thursday, May 17, starting at 6 p.m., Eastern time. SPORTS BRIEFS Pike Central Youth Wrestling Camp to be held in July Wrestlers who are in- terested in improving their skills and knowl- edge of the sport are in- vited to participate in the Pike Central Youth Wres- tling Camp. The wrestling camp is for students who will be in kindergarten or first through sixth grades in the 2018 -19 school year. The camp will run from Monday, July 16, to Fri- day, July 20, from 6 -7:10 p.m., at the Pike Central High School gym. The wrestling finale will be on Wednesday, July 25, at 6 p.m. In-person sign-ups will be Tuesday, May 22, and Thursday, May 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Pike Central High School gym. The sign-up fee is $45 ($25 for any addition- al siblings) and includes a T-shirt and a medal. Pike Central Grils' Volleyball camp to be held June 11-15 Girls who will be enter- ing fourth through eighth grades this fall will have a chance to learn about volleyball or improve the skills they already have during the Pike Central Girls' Volleyball Camp, which will be Monday, June 11, through Friday, June 15, in the Pike Cen- tral High School gym. Pike Central High School head volleyball coach Brandi Chestnut will be conducting two separate camps. Girls entering fourth, fifth and sixth grades will have camp from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. each day, and girls entering seventh and eighth grades will have camp from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per girl and includes a volleyball and t-shirt. Pike Central Chargers to host soccer clinic June 15 The Pike Central Char- gers soccer coaching staff and players will be host- ing a one-day clinic on Fri- day, June 15, for boys and girls who will be entering kindergarten through eighth grade this fall. The clinic will be at the Gos- pel Center Church's soc- cer field on east Illinois Street in Petersburg. Session 1 – from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – will be for boys and girls kindergar- ten through fifth grade. Session 2 – from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. – will be for boys and girls sixth through eighth grade. Members of the Pike Central High School boys' soccer team and coaches will run the clinic, with age specific drills and in- struction. The registration fee is $20 per player. A clinic t- shirt will be provided to those who are pre-regis- tered. Check-in is 15 to 20 minutes before the start of each session. Registration will also be conducted the day of the clinic, but no clinic t- shirts will be provided. Registration forms and payments are due by Fri- day, June 1, in order to re- ceive a clinic t-shirt. Lady Charger Basketball Camp set for June 25-28 Girls who will be enter- ing third through eighth grades this fall will have a chance to improve their skills and learn more about basketball during the Lady Chargers Bas- ketball Camp, which will be held from Monday, June 25, through Thurs- day, June 28, at Pike Cen- tral High School. Pike Central High School head coach Kyle McCutchan and his staff will be conducting two separate camps. The first will be for incoming 3rd through 5th graders from 6 -7 p.m. The sec- ond will be for incoming 6th through 8th graders from 7-8 p.m. The camp will focus on fundamentals and learn- ing the game of basket- ball. There will be games and contests each day. Each camper will receive individual instruction from coaching staff and high school players. The cost is $20 per play- er, or $ 35 for two players from the same family, and includes a camp t-shirt. Forms are available at each school's office. In addition, the team of Deffendoll, Meyer, Powers and Young placed eighth in the 400 -meter relay with a time of 55.55 seconds. As a team, Pike Central scored a total of 44.5 points, trailing Southridge (146 points), Forest Park (117.5), Heritage Hills (103), Gib- son Southern (72) and South Spencer (62). North Posey was seventh with 37 points, followed by Tell City (23) and Tecumseh (16). "Our conference meet is always a good indicator to see where we are before the sectional meet," Lady Char- gers head coach Ryne Bi- esterveld said. "We have a very good conference. We set a new season-best time in the 1,600 -meter relay, which is a great time to be break- ing season-best times. Hal- ley Powers ran a very good 800 -meter time at 2:33, which seeds her in the top three at sectional. I am op- timistic that we can do very well in several events at sec- tionals and even advance in a few events." Pike Central participat- ed in the sectional meet at Princeton on Tuesday, May 15. The top three finishers in each event automatically ad- vance to the regional meet, which will be held on Tues- day, May 22, at Evansville Central.
