Page 7 Sports Varsity The Red Bluff High School JV Softball team is hoping to continue playing well this season, as they currently have a winning record that consists of two wins and one loss. Freshman, Kaitlin Lyford, has been playing the sport of softball for three years and hopes to continue playing throughout the rest of high school. Lyford plays shortstop and explained that her favorite aspect of softball is making plays and getting outs due to the fact that it makes her feel as if she is contributing to the team. When asked how she feels about her team's bond, Lyford replied, "I feel as if we are close to one another; however, I believe we can grow even closer as a team and become more like sisters rather than just teammates." Lyford also explained that her coaching staff is very supportive and motivating, which she believes has a significant impact on her team's performance. Sophomore, Caitlin France, has been playing softball for around ten years and hopes to continue playing the sport for as long as she possibly can. France plays the position of second base and when asked what her favorite part about softball is, France replied, "My favorite part about playing softball would either be the bonds I create with my teammates or hitting dingers." France explained that her team's weakness would most likely be their pitching due to the fact that they don't have many experienced pitchers on the team; she also explained that the team as a whole could improve upon their defense due to the fact that they make a number of mistakes and silly errors that can easily be corrected.
