The Press-Dispatch Sports Wednesday, April 25, 2018 B- 5 PCMS boys' track team ties for first in tri-meet at Gibson Southern Eighth grader Wyatt Fra- sure won two individual events as the Pike Central Middle School boys' track and field team finished in a first-place tie with South Knox in a three-team meet hosted by Gibson Southern on Tuesday, April 17. Frasure placed first in the 100 -meter dash with a time of 12.47 seconds, and first in the 200 -meter dash with a season-best time of 25.78 seconds. Also placing first in indi- vidual events for the Char- gers were eighth grader Remington Gideon in shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 10 inches; and seventh grader Fenn McCrary in the 60 -me- ter dash with a time of 8.51 seconds. In addition, the team of eighth graders Devin Car- lisle and Dane Gladish and seventh graders Dallas Re- utpohler and Xavier Shoultz placed first in the 3,200 -me- ter relay with a time of 10 :21. Placing second in individ- ual events for the Chargers were Frasure in long jump with a season-best leap of 15 feet, 6 inches; Gideon in discus with a season-best throw of 99 feet; Shoultz in the 800 -meter run with a season-best time of 2:31.42; eighth grader Gunnar Ear- ley in shot put with a sea- son-best throw of 35 feet, 1 inch; seventh grader Cole Parks in the 400 -meter dash with a time of 1:06.05; and seventh grader Jack Teg- meyer in pole vault with a season-best leap of 7 feet, 6 inches. Placing third in individual events for the Chargers were Coleman in shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 3-1/2 inch- es; Shoultz in the 1,600 -me- ter run with a season-best time of 5:30.09; Tegmeyer in the 60 -meter dash with a time of 8.91 seconds; sev- enth grader Peyton Howald in the 300 -meter hurdles with a season-best time of 54.23 seconds; and seventh grader Nolan Nelson in the 400 -meter dash with a sea- son-best time of 1:06.24. Placing fourth in an indi- vidual event for the Char- gers was Coleman in dis- cus with a throw of 86 feet, 1 inch. Nolan Nelson, mean- while, finished in a fourth- place tie in high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 4 inches. In addition, the 400 -meter seventh grade relay team of Griffin Boyd, Peyton How- ald, Cole Parks and Nolan Nelson placed second with a time of 56.77 seconds; and the 400 -meter eighth grade relay team of Frasure, Ev- an Conder, Darian Herrera and Blaine Pitcher placed second with a time of 52.42 seconds. Pike Central and South Knox both scored 63.5 points to tie for first place. Gibson Southern finished third with 45 points. Leighty placed first in high jump with a sea- son-best leap of 4 feet, 7 inches, while Willis placed first in the 800 -meter run with a time of 2:47.26. In addition, Leighty placed second in the 100 -meter dash with a time of 14.37 seconds and third in the 200 -meter dash with a season-best time of 29.62 seconds, and Willis placed second in the 1,600 -meter run with a season-best time of 6:21. Also placing second in an individual event for the Lady Chargers was eighth grader Erika Vinnedge in discus with a throw of 63 feet. Also placing third in an individual event for the La- dy Chargers were eighth grader Addison Faulk in the 100 -meter hurdles with a season-best time of 19.42 seconds; and sev- enth grader Kahle Young in the 60 -meter dash with a time of 9.14 seconds and in long jump with a sea- son-best leap of 12 feet, 6 - 1/2 inches. Placing fourth in an in- dividual event for the La- dy Chargers were Faulk in the 300 -meter hurdles with a season-best time of 59.00 seconds; eighth grad- er Morgan Anderson in the 100 -meter hurdles with a time of 20.70 seconds; and eighth grader Jade Kam- mon in the 400 -meter dash with a time of 1:15.35. The 400 -meter seventh grade relay team of Emily Krieg, Sarah Siggers, Kee- na Young and Kahle Young placed second with a sea- son-best time of 59.90 sec- onds, and the 400 -meter eighth grade relay team of Faulk, Kammon, Leighty and Kendall Radabaugh placed second with a time of 58.81 seconds. As a team, Pike Central scored a total of 36 points, trailing Gibson South- ern (82 points) and South Knox (41). Hill in the 1,600 -meter run with a time of 5:26, and in the 800 -meter run with a time of 2:33. • Freshman Sam Jones in the 1,600 -meter run with a time of 5:52. • Sophomore Alex Like in long jump with a leap of 12 feet, 3 inches, and in the 200 -meter dash with a time of 31.5 seconds. • Freshman Josh McHargue in discus with a throw of 55 feet, 10 inches. • Freshman Lane Potts in the 1,600 -meter run with a time of 5:54, and in the 800 -meter run with a time of 2:40. • Sophomore Ethan Rembe in shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 2 inches, and in discus with a throw of 82 feet, 9 inches. • Freshman Noah Rus- sell in the 1,600 -meter run with a time of 6:25, and in the 800 -meter run with a time of 3:03. • Freshman Jackson Smith in the 110 -meter high hurdles with a time of 23.53 seconds. • Sophomore Paxton Thorne in the 100 -me- ter dash with a time of 13.31 seconds, and in the 200 -meter dash with a time of 28.19 seconds. • Freshman Connor Young in the 110 -meter high hurdles with a time of 20.87 seconds, and in the 300 -meter intermedi - ate hurdles with a time of 51.28 seconds. • Freshman Trent Zim- merman in the 1,600 -me- ter run with a time of 5:54. In addition, the team of Chambers, Dillard, Jones and Woolery placed sec- ond in the 3,200 -meter re- lay with a season-best time of 9:23.57; and the team of Armstrong, Ashley, Boyd and Huck placed second in the 400 -meter relay with a time of 50.31 seconds. As a team, Pike Central scored 75.5 points, trailing Southridge (111 points) and Tell City (82). Springs Valley placed fourth with 41 points, followed by Northeast Dubois (21.5) and Shoals (2). "The guys did a great job of competing at their best and it gave us some great results," Chargers head coach Chris Kramer said. "Some of these guys don't get to participate in the invitationals because we are limited on the number of people we can enter in each event. They definite- ly took advantage of the op- portunity and showed that their hard work has been worth it. We definitely have some good things to look forward to in the coming years with this group." LEIGHTY, VINNEDGE WIN ONE EVENT EACH; WILLIS BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD IN 1,600 Eighth graders Kya Leighty and Erika Vinnedge won one individ- ual event each as the La- dy Chargers finished third overall in the Princeton Middle School Invitational. Leighty placed first in high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 6 inches, while Vinnedge placed first in discus with a throw of 74 feet, 9 inches. Seventh grader Kennedy Willis, meanwhile, broke the school record for the seventh grade 1,600 -me- ter run by placing second in the event with a time of 5:58.98, eclipsing the pre- vious record of 6:06 set by Candy (Hall) Meyer in 1992. Willis also placed second in the 800 -meter run with a time of 2:51.09. Also placing second in an individual event for the Lady Chargers was eighth grader Addison Faulk in the 100 -meter hurdles with a time of 19.63 seconds. Eighth grader Ashton Catt placed fourth in dis- cus with a throw of 62 feet, 1 inches, and sixth in shot put with a throw of 26 feet, 6 -1/2 inches. Eighth grader Kay- la Gladish placed fifth in shot put with a throw of 26 feet, 8 -1/.4 inches; and Leighty placed sixth in the 200 -meter dash with a time of 29.82 seconds. Leighty finished eighth in the 100 -meter dash with a time of 14.63 seconds; eighth grader Morgan An- derson finished ninth in the 100 -meter hurdles with a time of 20.76 seconds; eighth grader Jade Kam- mon finished 10th in the 200 -meter dash with a time of 31.44 seconds; seventh grader Sarah Siggers fin- ished 12th in the 400 -meter dash with a time of 1:15.52 and 14th in the 100 -meter dash with a time of 15.85 seconds; and eighth grad- er Jaize Mills finished 13th in the 400 -meter dash with a time of 1:16.77. In addition, the team of Kammon, Leighty, Siggers and eighth grader Kendall Radabaugh placed fourth in the 400 -meter relay with a time of 59.53 sec- onds; and the team of Glad- ish, Kammon, Siggers and Willis placed fourth in the 1,600 -meter relay with a time of 5:07.48. Pike Central scored a to- tal of 60 points as a team, trailing South Knox (82 points) and Princeton (60). Vincennes Clark was fourth with 57 points, followed by Washington (53), North Posey (37) and Wood Memorial (6). Pike Central, which traveled to Washington on Tuesday, April 24, will host Dubois on Thursday, April 26, before hitting the road for its final regular-sea- son meet at Suth Spencer on Monday, April 30.
